Relieved!

We stayed overnight at my mother-in-law's, who I had yet to tell about my upcoming surgery.   I finally took the plunge and told her, and she was very supportive!  I really didn't know what reaction I'd get, as she has strong opinions about a lot of things and weight is one of them.  She even offered to come up for a few days after the surgery, if I need her, once my husband goes back to work.  I am so relieved - I feel as though I've cleared a big hurdle.  And on top of it all, according to her scale, I've lost another 4.2 lbs., which is 17.5 lbs lost since I started this process.

Congrats! My fiance told his mom (my soon to be MIL) and she was not happy at all! She thinks I am getting lapband and she thinks that is a little too invasive (at that point I WAS deciding to get the band or vsg) but now since I have changed my mind to VSG I haven't yet had the guts to tell her. lol She is a great woman but she overly worries. It also isn't like I can explain to her, since she is puerto Rican and her english isnt so well. *sigh*

It's so hard to know how friends and family will react.  So far, I've gotten nothing but support, which has been a great help as I prepare mentally for this big step.  Good luck with your future MIL!

Thank you, in the end run it is my decision. I just pray she understands....

Great relationship NSV! The more support you have during the process the better.
