Help - after surgery lifestyle???

I'm just wondering if there were any places or things that anyone enjoyed doing once they were able to leave the house. Considering my life revolved around resturaunts and bars (obviously a no-go), I am kind of at a loss about where to go and what to do now that I can move and walk comfortably. What did you find fun/enjoying doing that allowed you to keep your social life without putting you in temptations way?

My dad is huge into cycling and before my surgery had given me a nice schwinn cruiser.  I've started riding it around like crazy and I think I found a new hobby :)  I've not graduated to the racer bikes like he uses, but I'm sure I'll get there and it keeps me away from pubs and resterants.

1.  Walking & Hiking!  Invite friends to go with you.  Pack a liquid lunch and make a day out of it!

2.  Go Kayaking.  Find a lake that rents boats. (very cheap)

3.  Join a gym, attend fitness classes.

4.  Volunteer in your community.

5.  Organize your house, out with the old, to make way for the new.

6.  Visit, call, text. write your family or far away friends.

7.  Go to the library.

8.  Ride a bike.

9.  Go bowling

10.  Go ice skating or roller blading.

HAVE FUN!!!!

I plan on doing a lot of swimming which is something that I love but I feel uncomfortable doing right now.

I have had a personal trainer for two years (to try to lose the weight on my own) and its been 1 full week since I have worked out, and I honestly miss it... I never thought that I would say that, but it makes me feel really good after I'm finished. I am going to my doctor on Thursday to have my stitches uncovered (and hopefully cleared for moderate exercise), and then one week after I can FINALLY swim. I love to swim and be out in the sun - I can't wait to be able to do that.

I've found that physical activity really takes the mind of boredom. I've joined a gym and love. I imaging classes at the gym would allow you the opportunity to interact and meet new folks.
