how did you set you goal??

I dont know. I would be happy at 175 at 5'8 1/2 because this is the only thing I have ever know and the smallest I have ever been as an almost adult. I say that because I was only 17 then. By 18 I was 190- and just progressively gotten bigger. At 175 I am still a good sized girl, in a loose 14, tighter 12....but to wish for more just seems unrealistic to me. I know 175 is still overweight, but honestly at this point I would be good with just being overweight!

Today I glanced a the surgeons screen and it said goal for me would be 140! 140....ummmI think I was that in like 7th grade lol! I also think I would be too skinny, but then again...how would I know what too skinny is for me??
140 would require 130lb loss!! Thats sooo much.

How did you decide what your personal goal was?

Eh, I just picked the lowest weight I was able to ever attain starving myself years ago! I still had some to go (IMO) and lots of skin.. but that's where my number came from! I'd be happy anywhere around 170 or lower though!

My surgeon set mine based on a BMI of 22.  As I got closer to it, he lowered my goal another 5 lbs, which would be a BMI of 21.  It's something to aim for.  There has been considerable talk about a 5 to 10 lb bounceback, so I'm shooting for the lower goal.  I'll know when I get there, I guess.

I originally set my goal for 140 but I changed it to 150.  I am only 11 pounds from goal and I am wearing a size 10 pants and size small shirts.  I figured that I want a "normal" BMI so I didn't want to go above 150.  To be honest though, the weight is CREEPING off.  I know what people mean when they say the last 10 are the hardest!!

Good Luck!

I just picked the center of the "normal" range for my height and body type, which is 148 pounds.  I was actually about ten pounds heavier than that through most of high school and didn't have an ounce of fat anywhere on me so I don't know if it's realistic.  But I figured that since I'm nowhere near 18 anymore, I won't have the muscle I had back then, so maybe it is realistic.   Anyway, at this point, it's just a number.  I can always fine tune it later.

Check with your surgeon first but I use a BMI calculator to pick a  weight where I would be considered not overweight. 170 is right on the border for me.

I picked the weight I was after 3 pregnancies...lets's face it, I'm not going to get to the 117 I was in HS, that I felt most comfortable at.  It kinda bounced between 135 and 140 and I was slim but had a pretty hourglass figure.  That's where I'd like to be again, I really don't want to lose my curves!

I owe my journey to the sister that adopted me and started a donation site for me, Asia Carrera!  Follow my journey at http://www.skinnyrenee.com  Thank you Asia for caring enough about me to help, Love you!

I'm 5'2" and my surgeon said his goal for me was 150 because he thought if I lost anymore then my face would look weird (like saggy) idk. But I'm only 20 and I plan on being much more athletic and fit so my own goal for myself is 130-140.

I feel like goals can change as we go along... I see a lot of tickers here where people go 20-30 pounds below their goal bc they set it too high (ex 175 --> 135).

Nut set me for 122, as I'm only 5' 4-1/2".  However, my goal is between 145 and 150.  I have a very large frame.  When I got to 148 for a moment or 2 :) when I was 18, I had bones sticking out everywhere.  Even the Nut agreed 122 is probably too low, but based it the on the charts she has to go by.  I guess I'll know when I get there.
