spider technique??

So, apparently the surgeon I will be seeing uses a "spider" so I will just have one incision (similiar to a hernia repair) slightly above the belly button (or he said in some cases right below) and another super tiny incision in the center mid belly. So a total of only two incisions, with one being barely noticable.

Anyone had this done?

Wow sounds REALLY COOL.

Especially if you have problems with scars....

I saw an animated video of the spider technique.  Apparently they don't remove any of your stomach with it.  They just stitch a bunch of it together in a specific pattern and then it grows closed, similar to the size and shape of a VSG where they remove part of the stomach.   You might search the web for videos of it to understand better.

I'm interested to know if how you feel about it after it's done!

I personally dont care about the scars, I just want to know if it heals better, less pain ect. I would sort of like to see a person that has had this and their incision....lol (so I guess I do care about scars a little lol)

I think you are fortunate to have such a progressive Dr!!!!! I'm sure healing time is less, too! Please keep us posted how it turns out.

I had it done at the VA medical center in Pittsburgh, PA. My doctor did warn me that it might be a little more painful because of them moving the instument around alot in the 1 incision. I had previously had gall bladder surgery the "traditional" method, and I must say it was a little more painful but nothing to stop the show for. You cant even see my scar in my belly button and the other small incision (for the camera) is barely noticable. For vanity sake, I am glad I went that route.
