I am 8 weeks post surgery and have only lost 42lbs. I am 5'3" and was 315 the day of surgery. I was told with my age, height and weight that I should have expected to lose much more by now. Is there anyone out there with similar weight and height?... and how did you do? I am affraid that I will not ever be at a healthy weight.

Who told you that you hadn't lost enough weight.  I think 42 pounds in 8 weeks is absolutely awesome.  That is 20 pounds a month!  When have you ever lost 20 pounds a month?

We all lose weight differently.  Some people lose really quickly, others not so fast.  Our bodies are going to release the weight in it's own sweet time and you have been given a special gift that will help you release that weight.  Please don't get discouraged.  I think you are doing fantastic.

I don't know, 21 pounds a month is pretty good in my opinion. That still would work to over 100 pounds a year.

Are you doing exercise to help increase your metabolic rate?
Good luck!

Oh, I don't know. 5 pounds a week sounds like success to me. Who's telling you this?

I had surgery just 4 days before you and I've lost 32lbs... I just met with my surgeon on Tuesday and he said I'm ahead of the curve in comparison to other VSG patients and whatever I'm doing, keep doing it.

Who's telling you that you should have lost more by now?  I think you're doing outstandingly well!

Yeah you are losing at a very good pace.  Whoever told you that you weren't is not being honest with you.

Surgery isn't a magic pill that makes you drop overnight.  But having said that, 42 pounds is very good weight loss that anyone on OH would be proud to claim.  Keep up the good work and forget any naysayers.  I myself only averaged 10 to 12 pounds each of the first 6 months, so you are ahead of me at 8 weeks for sure!

Now I just get happy when the scale drops a pound or two every couple of weeks.  But I would definitely be working your program right now while you are in the honeymoon phase (the first 6 months post op).

What, are you KIDDING?  I'm just 2 inches taller than you and weighed more than you.  Look at my stats - that's 7 months post op.  You're 42 lbs. at 8 weeks and it isn't enough?

This is a problem, when people really believe the procedure itself is the magic bullet that simply *poofs* the weight away.  Who told you you should have lost more by now?  And not just more, but *much* more?  I hope it wasn't your surgeon, but I can't imagine that it would be.  And no sleever would have said this.

I'm not sure where  your expectations came from, but you're doing beautifully.  Enjoy it.

Don't fret over this.  You are losing.   Stress is not good for weight loss.   I was doing absolutely wonderful.  Now at 11 weeks, I'm having difficulties and can't understand it!   You are doing well, keep on doing what you are doing.  Make sure you are getting your protein and fluids and exercise in - no matter how hard it is.

We all do this at our own body's pace!     Like I said, fretting ain't good!!!
