Tomorrow's the BIG day!
Well, here I sit 14 of the liquid diet. Didn't think I'd make it..but I have!! 14 whole days with no food! Excited about tomorrow..can't wait to be sleeved and starting my real weight loss journey. Can anyone tell me how long they waited before introducing soft foods after surgery? I know what the doctor's say, but a lot of it is "up to how I feel" and I was just wondering what everyone else did and how long they waited. I'm actually dying to taste some mashed potoates!! lol
Thanks!
Thanks!
Congrats, you did great to make it 14 days!
I know you're probably dying for food now, but BELIEVE ME when I say you'll wake up with no appetite! I battled nausea and fullness for the first week (even with meds) and while I wanted the "taste" of food, my surgeon wanted me to wait until I could tolerate both liquids well and protein.
The protein drinks were so heavy in my tummy that I wouldn't be able to drink for HOURS... it honestly took a full week before I could begin protein (and full liquids)... and another few days before I could begin soft foods.
The priorities in the beginning are liquids first, then protein... while I know you're dying for food, don't risk your hydration status (a trip to the ER for IV fluids) or your protein status (needed for healing!) for the taste of food. Take it slow... a few tiny bites of something too soon might not hurt your tummy... but it can make you too full for liquids or protein drinks.
Good luck, you'll do great!

Everyone is different but I didn't want any food for a while and didn't want something like mashed potatoes for about 3 weeks. I don't eat them at all any more. I don't eat anything white like Potatoes rice, pasta or bread. I do let myself have some crackers that have protain in them for the crunch factor.
Congratulations! and good luck!
thanks! and good luck on your weight loss journey. i got sick of the protein about 5 days ago lol having a harder time getting these protein drinks down yesterday and today. at least soon i can be a little more creative with the protein shakes.
i keep getting a lot of feed back that people have no interest in food...that's interesting.
