It's a cautionary tale, and should be considered especially if someone has transit time issues. Not all of us are as lucky to not have issues. And, at 6 months out, I didn't have any problems either.
At 19 months I did, and still have transit time issues as do others.
Not to argue, but make sure when you are advocating a certain food group that all the information is provided. There are many people that struggle with transit time. Especially band to sleeve patients, and it's NOT a pleasant experience.
I still to this very day can not eat apple skin, and on some occasions I will eat pickles in a tuna or chicken salad, go 3-4 hours without eating, eat another meal and burp up pickle skin.
All I'm doing is sharing information. It might be great for you, but for others, this is not a food that people should eat all the time.
The post is from people's experiences with their medical professionals. As much as you are able to eat it, doesn't mean we all should or can.

Again thanks for the info with that guys experience. it is food for thought....
I just love how coconut is sooOOOooo great for the skin~~~~

Besides all the vitamins, fights candida, has electrolytes in it... its fantastic for the skin.
I loved sharing my experiences today ..... Also, I love how the coconut makes me feel
full

Especially once the transit time issue was diagnosed in January at 19 months post-op, before the pregnancy. I chose to not go on medication and avoid certain foods to see if it would resolve. Unfortunately, it has not, and here we are 8 months later. My surgeon believes this is something I will deal with for the rest of my life. It's random, and since I am not fond of taking prescriptions, I am opting to avoid foods instead of just eating them for the hell of it because I could take a pill to make them go through my stomach. Like I said, I had zero issues up until December/January. So, it's not like this is something I've struggled with my entire journey. Food likes to hang out in my stomach for longer periods of time. We will look at different options once I deliver in November, and recover from the c-section.
My thoughts are you are sharing your experience, but there is a reason why some people should avoid high cellulose foods. I'm all for sharing your experience, but please understand that discrediting other people's issues with all the health benefits of a super food can be detrimental to their sleeve. It might very well be great for so many things, BUT people need to know what "can" happen.
I don't know why you get so defensive when someone brings up something that is contradictory, or even just provides additional information to a topic. I am NOT trying to negate your experience, or discredit your posts. There are people out there that need to know that things can happen, and high cellulose foods should be kept in moderation. It's true for gastrectomy patients in general if you research those cases. Not just VSG, but people that have had their stomachs altered, or removed due to cancer or ulcers.
Let's be fair and provide ALL the information. Same goes for stalls, protein drinks, artificial sweeteners etc etc.

for sharing your terrible problem. sorry to hear it.
I hear what your saying, but just because you have to avoid these foods
doesnt mean everyone has to. In the beginning of a sleeve surgery.... definitely these foods should be avoided, I totally agree. So should lettuce, meat, fruit...etc etc... gosh I remember them sharing in options we cannot eat fruit for a year. boy has that changed. they are changing things all the time.... arent they?
When you say, lets be fair and provide ALL the information...same goes for stalls, protein drinks, artificial sweeteners etc etc... er emmmmm who are you talking about????
Are you talking about my lil ol green smoothies> ? I dont talk about stalls hun or artificial sweeteners, I have no clue what they are and frankly dont care! I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I actually hate the word stall and use the words the body is adjusting because it is. not sure how this is related...but ok :o)
Hun I am not defensive...I just think its how your reading my responses. Things can be taken so many different ways via emails and posts. You want to post publically and I am just responding.
Everytime you respond it tells me a little more about yourself and wondering if it is really the coconut that gets to you or what? I am sure a little coconut being good for the skin and me getting excited about this information didnt get you all wound up hun.... did it?
I am good right now, relaxed and just responding to your posts hun. chill hun.
I am not mad, defensive, or trying to argue with you. Chill Prego...I have always respected you.
Edit:
PS: let it been known that I do not discount your posts nor get offended.
I know about cellulose foods... I also know that a lot of foods should be avoided
and are not by many..... I am glad to know what works for me and what doesnt....just like
you do for yourself.
You strongly suggest I provide additional information...I now see i have you for that.
I will continue to do what i do...and you can do the same... we will make a perfect team wont we!

I'm not upset, and was simply using the protein drink/artificial sweetener as examples since they are talked about here a lot. Nothing you've posted about either of those or the green smoothie posts which I admittedly never read.
My transit time issue is not totally uncommon. That's my point. And, that it's not something I really dealt with early on. It's something that can happen later in sleeve life.
And, please let's not blame the "tone" of my replies on pregnancy. I'm in an extraordinary good mood. The comments that it's so good for XX reasons, is great, but everyone needs to know that there can be issues associated with certain foods. The big girl panties and boxers comments were off the cuff. People respect, and look for advice from people that do amazingly well such as yourself. If they are not made aware that these foods can cause issues, it's a disservice to not share the negatives as well.
Each of my posts is about me because of what I am dealing with at almost 2 years out further than you are.

I could give 2 poops about coconut to be honest. The only time I really ate it was in German chocolate cake icing HA.
Coconut is still one of the things that I eat in extreme moderation only because even at 2 years out, my transit time varies with foods.
Which is it that you did again? German coconut Icing only or you eat coconut in extreme moderation. Just confused.
My thoughts German Chocolate Crac****ing or COCONUT? I pick coconut anyday!

Please provide additonal information why eating german coconut icing is ok.... lol
Juuuuuuuuuuust kidding hun.... dont go blow up on me now...
Peace!!!!

I have had it a couple of times when I've tried a couple pieces of coconut shrimp since my husband insists that I try every shrimp dish out there in hopes that I will end up eating shrimp on a regular basis. I still find shrimp to be a repulsive food. So, I consider that extreme moderation.
It's not a food that I care to eat on a regular basis is what I meant about "giving 2 poops" about it. Pickles on the other hand, I miss the **** out of those things. Those big, juicy, salty pickles at ball games and the like, are the ones I miss the most. And, people look at me funny if I use my husband's flip knife to peel the skin off before eating it so I just don't eat pickles in public.
And, everyone around here knows I eat very liberally in maintenance. Red velvet cake is my arch nemesis, and I drink sodas regularly. There are no foods that are completely off limits for me, I just have to watch certain things a little more closely when it comes to consistency and content. But, I do live a pretty normal little life in maintenance.

Bummer you cannot eat pickles, coconut ( not that you like it) celery with your favorite cream cheese pineapple and walnut ( sounds freaking awesome... my mouth jus****ered) skins on foods...etc etc
I cant eat certain foods either like soda ( never liked it nor does it agree with me) cake
( doesnt agree with me) I dont do any recreational desserts... i get ill So I guess I can relate.
But your pineapple cream cheese with walnuts sounds delish. I am going to try it tomorrow!
Thanks for the tip! I will put it on celery too!
