Miralax is safe for children, it mixes to a completely undetectable state in water or anything else, no flavor or texture. I have a son with a chronic constipation condition, he had to take it everyday for 2 years straight.
I'm going to try adding a little benefibre into my drinks to see if that works. I'm positive it's the lack of fiber. I could always count on my shredded wheats in milk to make things work. No more of that!
Water, water, water. My son's gastro always said "constipation is usually 50% dehydration, 50% mechanical/fiber". I'm working on that, I know my water intake is too low. It takes so damned long to eat that if I wait 30 minutes before I drink, I'm getting close to another meal :(
Good luck - this just struck me this week. Not real entertaining!!

Miralax & Benefiber work, it takes a few days- but they are safe, and since Miralax only adds water to stool, it's safe to take everyday as needed. I needed those early out until I got on a vitamin regimen that solved the issue entirely-
I use 1 or 2 doses of Benefiber a day, it's good for you regardless.. and I take Vitalady's Tender Cal/Mg/D3.. there's enough magnesium in there to keep things moving very well. In fact, I take half hers (600Mg) and half plain cal citrate powder (600mg) because I was going too much with just the Tender Cal! Since calcium constipates me, this is a perfect combo..

I have suffered on and off my entire life with constipation. It has been so bad twice that I was technically impacted and had to have "it" manually removed (once about 12 years ago, and once this week...). I have used a mini-enema of glycerin and chamomile which is gentle and tends to work in about 10 minutes. I bought some suppositories the other day, but haven't had the nerve to try them.
Question about the Miralax-- a) can you really not taste it? And b) is there anyone for whom it doesn't work? I am going to try it, but and worried that I will be the one on whom it has no effect.
Also, I am going to try colonic irrigation when I get home from vacation in a week. I feel like I need a clean slate, literally! Also, I have read that colonics will help retrain sluggish colons, which I think I have.
Ironically, the last time I was this severely constipated, I had lost a ton of weight, was exercising, etc. But then, I was not eating well and drank no water, just Diet Coke. Now, I am extremely healthy, walk 6 miles a day, drink 110-130 ounces of water a day and no caffeine. I eat plenty of fiber a day. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what is causing it. I am 5 pounds from my goal of 140 pounds. It makes no sense.

Yes, Miralax does really work. I have had chronic constipation for many years and I use it. It takes longer on me than most people but it does finally work. If I use it everyday it is to much. I mix it with Citrucel and I get the fiber too. It just taste like orange. but...the Miralax alone has no taste. Good Luck!
