Just Wondering

I was just sitting here brainstorming and I wanted to say that I have a pretty swell week as far as recovery is going. I have not had much pain at all. I had a little bit of discomfort getting the liquids down but it seems to be getting better day by day with that. I have had the yogurts, applesauce on my list of things to eat. I feel bad by asking this and I have emailed my nutritionist and asked her this I hope she emails me back today (hopefully) I wanted to know if it was too early to try the pureed tuna fish or chilli refried beans etc etc. I only ask this because I think that I am starting to crave the meat aspect of my diet. I just wanted to check in with everyone to see.

thanks in advance

I wasn't allowed any meats, or anything with any type of chunks/stringy stuff until I was released on mushies at 4 weeks into the post-op diet. Everything I was allowed to have had to be strained for chunks.

I would put anything meat in my stomach less than a week post-op, but that's just me.

Don't rush the food.  It could make you really uncomfortable.  Try cream soups if you are on full liquids.  You may be sick of sweet flavors.  I know it sounds crazy, but when I got to have the soup I added garlic and onion powder(and protein powder).  It was so satisfying to have something more savory than sweet.  The cravings are just messing with you, so distract yourself with a walk or computer game or knitting, aything to keep your mind anf hands busy.  Get on OH and read every post- it really helped me keep my mind out of the kitchen and I learned alot.

I have the same surgeon, and I would expect the same diet. My surgery was the 4th and I am not supposed to have that stuff until after the 18th (2 weeks).

Here is something I tried for lunch today though. Greek Egg Lemon Soup. It is made with chicken broth, eggs wipped until they make the soup creamy and lemon juice. It was a nice change of pace from some of the other stuff and got in some good protien. Oh yeah I did add my unjury powder to it as well.

Here is one version (obviously leave out any rice or noddles).
