I haven't had any problems either, but I didn't advance to a reg. diet until I was 2 months out. I was on full liquids for 4wks, pureed for 2wks, soft for 2wks than to a reg. diet. But every doctor is different, I would just take it easy and be nice to your new sleeve.

All good advice... I will talk to my NUT, but I kind of feel like "the ship has sailed" kwim?  I am very clear about the instructions... I was so suprised by them!

I think I will dial it back... even if it's on my approved list I will try to be mroe cautious....

I was cleared for soft fish, soft foods, etc at 1 week post-op. I was cleared for other seafood and chicken around 1month.

That being said, I haven't not tolerated anything. My sleeve loves it all. (I have also eaten beef, usually ground and mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with ground turkey, but just started).

I might dial it back a bit on the actual meats, but in another week you'll probably be on track with other sleevers.

I was on soft foods at 3 weeks - ground beef, chicken (Tyson's pouch because it was moist), tuna, stuff like that.  I was cleared for everything at 6 weeks, as tolerated.  I've tolerated everything from the beginning.  I don't think your sleeve is freaky at all, although your doc's plan is a bit more accelerated than most.

I am 3 weeks out today and only just started to tolerate clear fluids (water) in the past 4 days. Due to excessive scar tisuue my sleeve was made very small and I could not even keep in 5 ounces of fluid a day so I was getting IV. But in normal cir****tances my doc clears for reg food at 4 weeks. I think I am going tin for dilation in a couple of weeks and I am kind of looking fowrad to it. I am so happy to be keeping in water but its a struggle to get it in. My doc told me to try to add yogurt or protein drink and with just a sip of anything other than water I am puking my guts up. And I had the band it is not that kind of vomiting it feel like a stomach virus vomiting. I am glad to be slleved and will be even happier when this is behind me. YOU are lucky girl...

Thanks.... I"m glad to hear that I"m not the only one who is a bit accelerated... I didn't realize just HOW accelerated it was :-)

Like Frisco, I extended my mushee phase an extra week and a half.... I didnt even consider red meat until last week  (I am over 2 mos post-op now).  I was told major complications could exist within the first 21 days.  I figure because each of us are different that going longer within the soft food realm would be safer for me, so I took my doctor's phases and extended them all by at least a week.

Different doctors have different plans. If your stomach is not hurting, then fine. If it was a problem, YOU would feel it.  It is your stomach.

I could have ground beef and chicken by week 5 or 6.  When I started, it was only one meal every other day or so. When trying something new, I just made sure it was the only new thing I was trying. I ate small bites and made sure it was moist. And, I took very long pauses so I could tell how it felt. So, it may have taken 20-30 minutes for me to eat 1 ounce.

You seem to be doing well.

Sometimes people go so long without red meat, their body reacts regardless of the surgery. I had a bad reaction many years ago.  I'm glad that I didn't go too long without it this time. In general, when I eat red meat for one meal, I choose to have another meal with fish. -just my thing.

I can tolerate everything - pork, beef, chicken, fish. I have not thrown up one time.  The only thing that made me feel even slightly queasy was some Indian food last week, and it was hella spicy.  I don't struggle because I am committed to this totally.  If it helps, I feel mentally ill when I think about putting something that does not have max nutritional value in my body.  I fear not getting enough nutrients, so I have no problem staying away from crap with my teeny tummy.  :)

I  have had no problems tolerating any specific type of food. I have thrown up one time, plain veggies--and it was 4 1/2 months after surgery, from eating too many too fast. The fact that nothing makes me nauseous or otherwise ill  does not mean the surgery isn't 'working'--I think its working fine!
