Yes, 3 years ago today my life changed forever.  I had the VSG and lost 85 pounds in the first 6 months and then continued to lose 10 more.  I have been maintaining that 95 weight loss now for 2 1/2 years.  I continue to use my wonderful tool, eat healthy, exercise and live life to the fullest.  I would be happy to help anyone considering this surgery or if you have had the surgery and have questions, please feel free to contact me.  This has been an amazing journey and I would do it again in a heartbeat.  Good luck to all of you and thanks to OH for this website.  Below are my before and after pictures.

It is so great reading your post!  It is very encouraging.  You look GREAT!!!

What was your regimen during the first 6 months?  I'm doing everything I know that is right but I'm losing a lot slower than I expected.

Thank you for your compliments.  I want to be an encouragement to others.  This is my way to give back and I will be happy to share with you what I have learned the last 3 years.  The weight will fall off in the first 6 months if you will follow your plan and work your tool.  Please try to eat mostly protein and limit your carbs.  I drink water all day long and try to exercise 3-4 times per week.  This 6 month "honeymoon" period is the best time for the weight to come off.  I stalled for 6 weeks after that and then I lost 10 pounds in one week.  So everyone is different and will lose at different times.  I had this surgery to eat what I want - -- just can't eat very much at all still at 3 years out.  I probably consume 800-900 calories per day.  I can eat more than I did in those first 3 months but I'm still amazed at how little I can eat and get full.  I have found that the minute I start feeling uncomfortable, I quit eating.  I eat protein every 3-4 hours, such as chicken, shrimp, cheese, eggs, etc.  Also I try to eat my carbs during the day and not at night.  I hope this has helped somewhat.  It is my way of life now, I just don't think about food very much -- I just eat to stay healthy and enjoy being a wife and mother and grandmother.  BTW, my husband had the VSG 4 years ago and he lost 130 pounds and is maintaining too.  The only regret we have is that we did not have this opportuntity a long time ago.  We both love, love our sleeve!!!

That is awesome!!   Thanks so much for sharing.  I had my VSG on August 11, 2011 (one week today).  I have lost 8.6 lbs since my surgery and 15.2 since July 27, that was the day I set the date for my surgery.  My Dr said to cut back on my eating so my surgery would be easier.  So I did.  I am so excited.  I had 70 lbs to loose.  I have type 2 diabetes.  And since my surgery I am OFF all 7 pills I was taking.  I feel great.  My blood sugar is already under control. I would Love to be able to text you through out my journey, if you wouldnt mind.  If that is ok with you my number is 225-572-4849 I live in Louisiana.  BTW you look GREAT!!!  Congratulations!!!!  Thanks so much :)  Tina
