Six Months ago, Today

I had surgery on Feb 17th.  I am still happy with my decision and I would do it again.  I have lost about 60 pounds.  This week has been challenging, though.  I am gaining and losing the same damn pound for the last 10days.

I am SKIPPING my 6month check up with my surgeon.  I emphasized that he wanted me to be around 200#s for my 6 month check(no **** Sherlock, me too) and I weigh 226.  I have a physical with my general practitioner next week, that will suffice.  I will see my surgeron when I get to 200#s.  I will tell him I thought he wanted me to come back in 6months and weigh 200#s, NOT come back at 6months

I still have a bum knee, so far weighloss has not been the magic bullet my knee was hoping for.  I dont like shopping for clothes, so I am having lots of wardrobe malfunctions(flashing folks at a mall near you).  I just borrowed a safety pin to keep my slacks and undies up.

I have some one scale issue.  I always think I am gonna see 288 or 267 or something when I step on the scale.  Then I breathe a sign of relief...every morning.

The rest of my life has been GOLDEN.

yeah, it hasn't fixed my knee or ankle issue either.. but hey, I can move better, and feel better about myself to boot. Glad it's going well- and I do understand the scale thing too.

Woohoo....you are doing great!!!  I have my 6 mos appt on Friday.  I don't feel like going myself but pretty much think they are going to say - keep up the good work and send me on my way!  That's my hope anyway - I will also be able to find out if any of my blood levels are out of wack.

Other than that, I'm cruising along right with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your 6 months!

I have a similar scale issue. Everytime I hit a new number, I keep thinking I have somehow tricked my scale into thinking I'm lighter than I am and that the real weight will come up the next day...then the next day I jump on and think, "wow...it really must be real."

I also wanted to chime in and say that I stressed over hitting the number my surgeon threw out for my 3 month follow-up and barely made it. He threw out a crazy number as my 6 month goal and I was 15 lbs over at my 6 month visit. He and the NUT were still happy with my progress and it was a good visit.

So, delay your visit for a few weeks if you hope to get off a few more lbs, but don't let someone else's goal keep you from your follow-ups. I think my surgeon just threw a crazy number out there to get me to work hard knowing full well that I may not actually make it.

Thanks Lindsey.  I keep playing the conversation over in my head.  He may have forgotten his "goal" for me at 6 months I am hoping!

Hey Sleeve Sister!! I'm back among the living now that my conference is over! I can't believe it's been six months. You are doing good...don't get discouraged. This thing is going to be constant work. You will earn every pound loss and you will appreciate it when it finally comes off.
