I told my daughters about my surgery Monday
OK, up until now I have told *no one* (and I mean *no one*) about my upcoming surgery, except my partner, doctors, therapist, etc. And you guys. My surgery is Monday.
I finally realized I couldn't be one of those old crazy people who has surgery and doesn't tell their kids. So I called both of my daughters (25 and 29) and they were so very, very sweet and supportive. Surprised, but very supportive. I don't know if the rest of the family will take it as well, but I am SO grateful I have my kids' blessings.
So many of you guys have helped me... Thanks!
It's great that you have your daughters' support - we all need people to be there for us. Initially I only told a very few people I knew would be supportive, so I understand the hesitency. Over time I told more people and most have been very supportive. The opinions of those we love and who love us is important, so we get anxious that they won't approve. Usually, they want us to be happy and healthy, so most support us or come around, at least in my experience. Anyway, good luck to you on Monday!
