need leads on great mexican doctors
I have finally made the decision to change my life. I decided to ignore what the family say and do what works for me. I am self pay so going to mexico is my only option right now. I am hoping you wonderful people up here will give me leads on doctors that i can research. If you know their round about price that would be great too.
Hi there!
I am going with my girlfriend to Dr Aceves on Sept 27th. Her surgery is scheduled for the next day. I hade my VSG done in San Francisco.
As her support system in Mexico, is there anything I need to know or bring with me to help this go smoothly?
Did you have someone go with You? Is there a cot in the room that I can sleep on? And did your support system eat in the cafeteria?
Thanks for any info you can give to me!
Greatly appreciated!

This is not from my personal experience, but just read repeatedly on these and other boards: Avoid Almanza. Multiple infections and problems.
Most recently I saw that there was a robbery at the recovery house where you stay after surgery. Patients and nurses were tied up, it sounds awful. Again, this is second hand, I don't have any personal information.
Best of luck, there are lots of great doctors down there, that much is clear!

Hi there!
A good friend of mine is having her VSG on September 28th. I am going as her support system.
Is there any info for me that I should know to make this part of her journey go smoothly?
And what are the accomodations if any for me in the hospital room?
Thanks for you input!

There is a full sized leather couch in the room and they provide pillows & blankets. My husband is a touch over 6' and was comfy sleeping on it. The hospital has a good cafeteria, and he had a burger one night, some Mexican another.. both smelled wonderful (yes, he ate in the room, didn't bother me!) The food was great- per his comments, and he walked around town a couple nights- to the mall (a couple miles away) and stopped at a taco cart too.. Mexicali is a very quiet & very safe city. He had no issues, and did some exploring on foot during the day too..
Only advice, don't overpack! I used very few things I brought.. There is a shower in the private room, they provide fresh towels. Bring some toiletries, lip balm, lotion, grippy slippers.. they had a fan in the room (I used it when I was nauseous- it helped). The room is set up like a small suite, hospital bed, sink, shower in the bathroom, couch.. lamps. It is in a very quiet area of the hospital, and Dr A groups his patients in the area, the nurses desk is right there too. It was a far better experience all the way around from when I was hospitalized here in Indiana for meningitis! I wish our hospitals and nurses (and Drs) were this way here. She is in great hands!
