All of this information is awesome!  Thanks for taking the time to spell out the first couple of days. Three weeks from today is my surgery, so I'm like a sponge gathering information.  My doctor and his staff have been wonderful - loads of great information, but this first-hand info is primo!!!  By the way, my Dr. recommended a book that is terrific, "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery".  It's a few years old so it doesn't address the VSG, nonetheless it's got great info.  He also recommended this website - it's so helpful.  Thanks, everyone, for being here for us.

Wow everyone! Thank you so much for all the details and personal accounts. I REALLY appreciate it and am much more at ease. The control freak in me needs to know what to expect. I hate surprises!

This is WONDERFUL information.

Here's my post about my surgical experience. I'm 3 weeks out and still feel some tightness in my abdomen, but I'm not sore anymore. I'm feeling pretty good, actually!!

I am on Day Seven post-op and feeling really good.  I never had any excruciating abdominal pain, just discomfort near the incision spots. My stomach felt bloated for a couple of days, so I took the anti-bloating medicine, which seemed to help.  I did (and still do) have some back pain that I think has to do with laying on my back so much, as I am a side-sleeper.  I've been able to sleep on my side with a pillow propped against/under me for the past two nights, and the back pain is getting better.  Sleeping has been tough, though, as I cannot take my usual sleep meds.  I took pain meds for the first two days after I came home, hoping that they would help me sleep, but they didn't.  I've been on Advil ever since, and actually haven't taken any pain meds at all today.

I should mention that I've always considered myself to have a relatively high pain tolerance, but really there have been no sharp pains anywhere, just achiness and some discomfort.  I guess I am lucky!
