Drinking after Eating
OK, I just started purees on Monday. I am only eating 1 to 1-1/2 oz of protein at a time, 2 oz if it's blenderized soup. My program says not to drink 45 minutes to an hour after eating. I'm finding that it's not comfortable to drink for more like 2 or 3 hours after eating. *Now* I'm struggling to get in the water if I don't drink a liter before breakfast! I just can't seem to drink the quantities I was when I was just on liquids. Is this just part of my tummy adjusting? I can't imagine that blended up cottage cheese is still hanging around two hours later.
I do sometimes find, even now 6 months out, if I eat dense protein that it may well be an hour or so before I can comfortably drink. Unfortunatly I haven't found a way around that. This far out it is much easier to get enough liquid, though I do have to try to keep liquid around most all day. I would suggest to keep at what you are doing by trying to drink as much as you can. I also kept a water bottle by my bed and would drink up to the point I fell asleep and start on it again in the morning.
I will say it is especially difficult if I am laying down....sometimes even painful for a few hours after I eat...I'll be laying in bed watching Spongebob....love that guy...yes I'm 28 with no kids yet....and I'll take a sip and have to get out of bed and walk around just to get rid of the pain....
edit - just noticed the pic to the side...thats my nephew...my wife and I love other peoples kids....babysitting is fun....raising the little things not so much lol...one day soon....

My plan says to wait an hour after eating, and at 7 1/2 months there are times when I need to wait 1 1/2 to 2 hours if I eat something particularly dense. My surgeon told me early on if you have to choose between getting in fluids and eating a meal, drink a protien shake or protien drink. Hydration is priority (1), Protien (2), progressing your diet (3).
At my 6 month checkup, my surgeon re-affirmed that everyone is different, and that's ok. I am still eating the amount they recommend at 3 months rather than 6, and it's perfectly fine per Dr. Kim. I use a protien drink to supplement when I need it, and I eat mostly high-quality protien to hit my numbers.
I hope that helps
