Ketosis

I am averaging 30 g carbs, 85 g protein, 625 calories since starting full liquids 14 days ago.  I checked my urine and it didn't show any ketosis.  Still too many carbs?  Is it important?  I am losing well so far.   Hmmm...

how did you check your urine.. I would like to know because I am losing kinda slow and I understand that when you are in ketosis you seem to loose faster

Hey Happy66 I am watching your progress, because I am having surgery soon and like reading about your journey. You are doing great. I know when I use to follow a diet that included checking my keto stick it was frustrating if it did not have color. But it does not have to be really dark. Even a little color means you are in ketosis. But if you are losing consistently I would worry too much about it. Congrats to you, you are doing great! Can't wait to start my jouney!

Thank you!  It's been way easier than I thought it would be, so I am kind of giddy.  Here's to your own uneventful surgery and recovery!

I bought a bottle of Ketone strips at Walmart.  They sell them with the diabetic supplies.

My understanding is that it really depends on the amount of clear fluids you are pushing in. Plus, the fat and protein counts can throw off the strips from what I've just read. I remember my surgeon told me to not really trust those strips so I never really used them. My key indicator for ketosis was the fuzzy tongue, funky breathe and then in the following weeks, the change in my body odor. I wasn't stinky, or funky, but I smelled different.

OK, I'll keep my nose on alert.  I am doing lots of fluids, so the urine is pretty dilute for sure.
