Bethesda Naval Anyone?

 My surgeon will be Dr. Lin and his team seems really great.  Wondering if any of you have been to Bethesda Naval for your Sleeve, and how it all went?  I was really excited to get into this program rather than having to go through Tricare as Bethesda only requires 3 visits to the Nutritionist and you can do them 2 weeks apart.  He said he primarily does the sleeve there (33 last year), a couple RNY and only 2 or 3 bands a year.  

I'm not sure why Tricare would be a problem. Tricare does not require any specific NUT visits or any kind of pre-op diet. That is entirely a surgeon/hospital/program requirement.

 When I went to do it through tricare last year they required 6 months of visits to a NUT and I had to be above 40bmi when I went to have the surgery.  

That is not what is required at Bethesda, which is where I am going.

That may have been true last year. However, this year in the guidelines Tricare does not require a 6 months supervised diet. They probably changed the requirements earlier this year.

 well last year was when I needed it.  This year I get to go to Bethesda.  Back to original question.

If you haven't already, I would recommend posting it on the "local" forum for that state/area by clicking at the Top where it says a Forums, a box will drop down and find the appropriate state, or try posting on the main board.

I had my band surgery nearly 3 years ago, and my revision 8 months later, and never had to do the 6 month supervised diet thing, but I did have the nut/psych required visits. All of 3 visits in total. Those requirements vary based on when Tricare decides to make changes, when you have surgery and the director of surgery at specific MTFs.
