I AM FINALLY 199!!!! have lost 155 lbs so far..
Great job, Dawnie! 'so proud of you! Doesn't it feel amazing to be under 200?
I wanted to share with you how I calculate my percentage of excess weight lost. I came up with this on my own, though. It didn't come from a doctor. So take it for what it's worth.
I took my height (5'9") and figured what weight I would have to be to reach a normal BMI (24.99 or less). For me, that was somewhere in the neighborhood of 168. Anything over that weight is excess weight. So when I got to say, 200, the math went like this:
307 (my highest weight) minus 168 (normal BMI weight) = 139 lbs of excess weight to lose
At 200 lbs, I had lost 107 lbs of the 139 lbs of excess weight. 107 divided by 139 meant I had lost 77% of my excess weight.
Now that I'm below 24.99 BMI, I've lost 100% of excess weight.
Of course, even BMI isn't the most accurate measure of how overweight a person is, so it's all relative. I thought I would share my calculation with you and the rest of OH for what it's worth, though.
Keep up the great work! You're close to the finish line!
