HELP
Hi Tuesday is my day for my sleeve not sure of the time yet they will be calling me tomorrow to give me my time. My question is that although I know that I have to be on a liquid diet, and I have ready many posts about the problems with gas, but when you are on a full liquid diet some people can tolerate cold temps and some can't? is this true? Am I understanding this correctly? Also I know you are going to have to walk, sip walk thing how long is that for?
Did you have a pre-op class with your surgeon's office (or your nutritionist)? I had a lot of these questions covered during that class and in the materials they sent home with me.
Some people find it easier to tolerate room temp or warm liquids, as opposed to really cold ones (like shakes). I never had an issue either way, I dran****water and also warm protein drinks and they all seemed to be tolerated the same way.
As soon as I was checked into my room following my surgery, my nurses had me up and walking every 2 hours. Once I went home after surgery, they wanted me to walk a total of 30 minutes a day and preferably walk some after every meal. I've continued to ramp up my walking to a very brisk pace and some jogging now, at 2 months out.
As far as sipping, I was very cautious about it early on and now I find no issues with drinking at a normal pace like I did pre-op.

thank you for replying NO I was unable to attend because I was having my endoscopy done and they were running late and because my surgery date was moved up everything is being done quick quick quick, I just found out on the 29th of September that my surgery was moved up to the 11th of October therefore my endoscopy had to be done right away and it so happened to be scheduled the same day as my class was but, they thought I would be able to still attend however, the doctors got behind and they were having trouble getting an IV started which made my 1:00 appt more at 3:30 and my class was at 4 :( however they knew what was happening and called me and told me not to attend they will send me the book but it doesn't state about the warm temperature drinks or any of this information that I had asked. So again I thank you for replying all information I receive is very helpful
You will figure out quickly whether or not you can tolerate cold drinks. I found for the first several dys room temperature or warm liquids went down the easiest, less of a shock to my swollen tummy. After that cold was fine. You need to walk sip and rest until you feel better, the sip sip sip and walk. Again, you will find what works for you. I had no problems with gas pain, and was totally off pain meds one i got home from the hospital, although there was discomfort( I have a pretty high toleramce of pain). This really is an individual journey, but as long as you follow your surgeon's plan you will be fine, good luck and welcome to the loser's bench!
Thank you! I am already feeling a lil better with some of the weight that I have lost just by following all the rules and plans that are pre-op :) so I am very excited about what is going to be a new beginning a new chapter in my new life. But I thank you so much for the information and any other information that is shared with me. Thanks again
