Welcome to the VSG board!  The veterans of this board want to share a few links with you that will answer common questions and get you started on the way!  We will add to and update this list frequently, so if you see this re-posted, please check it again as there may be updates.

These links represent questions we see frequently and tend to have thorough responses to answer those questions in the thread.  If you read these messages, you’ll be much more knowledgeable about what you are likely to see during your VSG experience.

If you have a question or need information, before opening a new thread, try the "SEARCH" box at the top right hand side of the page.  This is a quick and easy way to get an answer to many questions because many questions have been asked and responded to before quite thoroughly.

I have been mostly sitting back and reading because I haven't wanted to be one of "those" newbies who asks the same questions asked a million times before but I also didn't want to go through hundreds of pages of threads to see what exactly those were either.

Hello. Newbie here. I read this a few days ago and after much thought have decided I have to speak up and share my feelings. I may be the only 'tenderheart' who was offended - but then again - maybe I am not. I am an intelligent woman who is very, very good at research. I chose to join this forum because it is listed as such a wonderful support group in many of my books and research articles as well as recommended by both my surgeon and some of my colleagues at the office. While I understand that 'veterans' have much to share with 'newbies' - your post did not feel like it was sharing or supportive. It felt condescending and pompous. Not sure if that was the intention - I certainly hope not. But I do NOT believe that you represent the majority of veterans as I have read so many lovely positive and supportive posts from vets to newbies that I am convinced you are the minority if not ONLY person who feels that newbies must research thoroughly this board, look up everything they have a question about - then only IF it is a NEW question are they worthy of contributing or posting to this board. Your post really wasn't 'helpful' - but it did 'motivate' me. This type of message makes me feel unwanted and like I am not welcome here. However, your message will not deter me from tapping into the wonderful support I see here. So in advance I apologize to you - oh holy veteran - for what I am sure will be seen by you as 'ignorant' and 'redundant' newbie questions and posts .

I hope the original post isn't what's making you feel so terrible.  it's something that i didn't actually write originally, but that i re-post occasionally b/c people seem to find it helpful and i know i did when i first set out.  of course, i asked a million questions too and i think most of us do.  ask away!  this really is a very friendly place with lots of support for people at all stages -- considering surgery, in the process of doing the pre-surgery stuff, directly post-surgery, and then as time goes on.  i know i'd be glad to answer any questions i can.  pm me if you like!

i hope you'll stay with us!!  and there's no such thing as a question that's been asked too often -- almost always someone will have a helpful answer!  HTH!
