The change is so drastic I have to ask how you've dealt with seeing the different person in the mirror?  I mean do you still see your before when you look in the mirror or do you see who you are now?

Thank you! As for your question..I do see the new me in the mirror..when i really look at me.  But most days I still feel that i look the same.  It's really difficult to think that the person in the mirror is actually me now.  I am still, at 18 mths postop..feeling bones in my body that i didn't know i had..LOL   I have sat and just stared at my arms..and cried..thinking they look so small..this cannot be ME.  I know eventually i'll feel as i look..but it's still difficult for me.  I bought a pair of 13 juniors jeans..the ones in the pic..and they look so dang small..coming from a person who is used to buying size 32 jeans at Fashion Bug..but my gosh..they fit me..and it still amazes me.  I have taken them back off..and just held them up and stared at them..trying to grasp that my body fits into them...

Amazing journey!

You can take your phone on the plane, but no calling, texting or internet. You can use any offline apps or whatever. They're very strict on that. Besides - you won't have signal way up there.

Don't know about your hooks. I've never set one off, but my Mom's articificial knee does. I'd leave it off because I'd be afraid of having one of those horrid pat-downs, but it might be just fine.

You look fabulous, dahling!

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Ok thanks for the info! I'll just be sure my phone is turned off the whole time, not a big deal..i just figured it would be a good way to pass the time..but ya..i'm sure there would be no signal anyhow..LOL

No texting from the plane...phone has to be turned off.

I think if you just go through one of the walk-through detectors, you should be fine. I have had a compression tank (which did not have any metal on it) show up on the body scanner. It was no big deal though, they gave me a quick pat down on my stomach and back and I had to do the hand screen thingamabob, but then I moved right along.

I've also opted out of the body screener thing before as well (when I had multiple flights in the same day...got a little paranoid about the radiation) and those pat downs were much more thorough than the little one I got when my compression tank showed up on the body scanner.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. Wear what you want and if you get pulled aside, its really pretty minor and takes about 30 seconds.

I like wearing my spanx, as it helps hold in those side rolls..and i want to look and feel great when i get there..i feel so much better when wearing them.  I think i'll wear it, i cannot imagine it being a problem (crossing fingers).

Thanks!!

Dawnie, You really inspire the hell out of me. I am sure I have said that before and i will say it every time you post these pics. I just can't believe how great you look.

Open enrollment is here and I have been scared to death to make my selections. I want and need this surgery, but I am terrified of the what-ifs.

awww...thank you so much!  I love to be an inspiration for others.  Trust me..I was scared to death also, almost backed out of surgery at the very last minute..i mean..hooked up and ready to be wheeled in.  I'm so happy that i took this step though..and didn't give up..didn't keep thinking i could do it on my own.  I had far too much to lose, i know I would have lost my motivation to keep pushing through on my own.  I needed the help of this surgery..and it has been a life saver.  The what-ifs are scary..but what if you don't do it..what all can and may happen to your health..your life??

Dawnie, those are very good questions and I know I have to do this. I am going to make my selections now, no more procrastinating. Thanks! Wishing you continued success...

Wow! You look fantastic! Way to Go!
I'd have to agree, the booty looks good!  Looks lifted and sculpted, are you are doing tons of squats or stair climbing??
I do a lot of exercise, but sadly, I'm losing my butt....LOL...

As far as flying goes...the answers from the previous posters are correct....I would just add, definitely go as light as you can...they charge an arm and a leg for baggage nowadays....
