Soo...who cheated on their liquid diet?
I didn't cheat. It was all about breaking bad habits. For several years I've eaten most of my meals out - stopping often by the fast food places for breakfast on the way to work, same for lunch, often for dinner. It was about getting back to taking responsibility for what I put in my mouth. I miss the bad habit and soda pops but that will pass and it is easier all the time.
I wasn't too big on fastfood, I'd have it for dinner a couple of nights a week. What got me was the large amount of eatiing I was doing after I got home from school and the 2-4 cans of soda I was drinking a day. Not to mention candy bars on a regular basis too. I don't miss soda, or candy, I just want solid yummy food that isn't sweet.
Good luck~~~
Good luck~~~
Tell you what really drove it home to me how important it was.
It was important cuz it made my healing easier, my surgery less complicated, and my innards not be so sore like someone was rummaging around in there.
But the fact that if Dr. A had gotten in there, and my liver was too slimey to safely do this, that he would CLOSE ME UP and wake me up and send my ass home.
THAT is what I kept telling me.
I can do ANYTHING for a while. I dont EVER have to liquid diet again unless its for medical purposes - but to make it so I could do everything I could to have a smooth operation and wake up having had it performed?
Motivating.
Day 3, I would have sold my mama to science for some french fries, but seems science already had their own damned bossy little mama and didnt need mine. :}

I cant lie...I cheated on day 3. BUT, I will say the hardest part of the liquid stage pre-op was after having cheated. It was hard because I wanted to do it again, and again. In which I did! It was like a bite of food here and there. Those little moments came more often than not...literally almost every other day.
I felt horrible, and all I could think about was my liver being too big to have the surgery. I lost 16lbs during my 2-week liquid diet. God definitely blessed with with that weight lost, and luckily when I woke up after sugery...the pain told me that surgery had been performed and my liver wasn't too big to have surgery.
HOWEVER, my advice...DONT CHEAT!!!! From what I hear, those cravings go away after a couple of days of staying strong on the liquid diet.
The hardest part post-op for me in not being able to eat. But I HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT cheat because I dont want to cause myself to have any complications. It's like the desire to eat is there, but you cant because of pain, or change in taste buds, or whatever.
Good luck...I know you can do it!!!

Keep in mind, this is the end of Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet, so this may change by Day 14... but...
The only thing that I have thought about all day is "I don't have to cook for the rest of the calendar year!" My guidelines allow for sugar-free popsicles and sugar-free Jell-o. I stocked up on those (along with protein drinks, G2, Propel flavor pouches, and sugar-free Kool Aid). Today, though, I've been happy with 3 protein drinks made with light soy milk, a Jell-o, and a serving of Cream of Wheat (allowed once per day). Do your guidelines allow for any of those foods to go with the liquids?
Good luck!
