What was your preop liquid diet?
I am closing in on my surgery date, and I am curious what others preop diet is-
I am 4 shakes per day, 1 light meal, 4 servings fruit and veggies. I don't recall them having me stop this before the surgery, but I need to call and check Monday- it has been several months since i had that meeting with the dietican and I promplty lost all of the paper work I was given. I am losing weight on this and have reached my minimum goal with a week to go.
Anyone feel like sharing their version?

MIne was long - 3-4 shakes a day plus a low carb meal for 3 weeks, then a week of replacing the meal with another shake. I lost 23 lbs on my pre-op diet.
Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22
175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
I had a pre-op diet 2 weeks before surgery with NO carbs. Then 2 days before surgery I started a liquid diet of clear liquids only, and the day before surgery it was nothing red, orange or purple. Basically I lived on Powerade Zero in green or yellow, water, decaf tea, and I think I was allowed watered down apple juice? Then the afternoon prior to surgery I had to start a cleanse with an entire bottle of Miralax in my green or yellow Gatorade 2 (low carb) and had to drink so many ounces every 15 minutes until it was gone in addition to the dulcolax tablets I had to take. It wasn't painful but dang my entire system was EMPTY by the time I had to leave in the morning for surgery. I felt dehydrated going into the hospital, but I knew that would all be remedied with an IV before I was in surgery.
Good luck on your upcoming day!

Mine is hard core...only liquids for 2 weeks before surgery and 2 weeks after surgery!!! I'm doing 4 protein shakes a day, water in between with crystal light pure and I have chicken broth in the evenings...that's it! I just finished day 5 of my pre-surgery liquids!!! When all is said and done I will have had no solid food for a month!
Honestly I LOVE that my surgeon requires this...after eating and eating and eating whatever I wanted for the past 42 yrs, I'm forced to deprive my body from...well, eating! Emotionally I feel that it's a really important step in the emotional release to the addiction...at least for me it is.
And ya know what...it really feels good!! I feel great and I can't wait to lose it all for good

You are doing great vocal coach. Mine is the exact same way as yours pre op and post. My surgery was 11/29/2011 have lost 25 pds so far since pre op and post op. I'm still on liquids but I'll be able to advance soon enough as I feel great and in a way detoxed. Keep up the great work it truly pays off in the long run.
Thank you everybody! I was wondering if at some point I switched to clear liquids, and it looks like in some cases that is the plan. I will call in and confirm the last few days. I don't remember ever them saying clear liquids for a week, and I am pretty sure I would have on that. I just was a little fuzzy on the day before. I am thinking even if they do not require it, I may just go clear liquids (no red and purple and such) too. I know the dye can be confused with blood when scoping so better safe then sorry. Not sure what to do about the Miralax- seems like a good plan to be cleaned out going in, but on the other hand I absolutely do not wish to deal with runny frequent stools post surgery. The shakes require me to take colace daily, so I am not in the camp of liquid in and liquid out apparently. At least not yet ;)
Cheers to everyone and have a great weekend!

I have a 2 hour class I have to attend tomorrow that I found out about after my surgery date was selected. I'm guessing this is when they will be letting us know about the bowel prep the day or so before and what to expect the day of surgery, what to bring to the hospital how to transition to home life after leaving the hospital, etc...so as you get closer to your surgery I'm sure you'll have paperwork from your surgeon that will explain everything you need to know!!
Looking forward to keeping up with each other during our sleeve journies!!!
Have a happy Sunday!
