Tip to make the pressure move - walk, walk, walk.  Moving your body helps it move around.

Congrats and welcome to the losers bench!

Congratulations.  I'm sorry you're in so much pain -- they say walking helps with the gas.  Remember, you'll feel better each day -- here's to a quick recovery!

Walking helps but I would take it easy till Thursday, if you lay or sit down whatever is more comfortable make sure you move your legs around often to prevent clots.
I slept in a reclined position/recliner for the first 5 nights after that i slept on my back. And at a week out I could sleep On my belly and sides.
If you get gas pain in your shoulder, roll your shoulders back and forth it helps with the gas pains alot.

I'll second the heating pad. My gas pain in my right shoulder and I used a heating pad to help with the pain.

Walk walk walk- get up and move every hour while you are awake.  I don't mean miles, but get your own water and juices., it will keep you moving.  The heating pad sounds like a good idea.  Take your pain meds, don't be tough.    You will feel better every day, I promise.  It took me a week before I got a good night's sleep.  nap when you need it.   The formula/ mantra is walk sip rest repeat.  You can do this!  If the pain meds don't work or if you have any problems don't be she about calling the surgeon on call!  Good luck!

Dont drink more than an oz of water at a time till tomorrow...then you can do 1 oz protein per hour...once you can tolerate you can go up to 2oz. That will help with the gas. Also take enough pain meds so you can take short walks a few times a day...but not enought to make you sleep. I can;t believe he did it outpatient. I was in the hosp about 30 hours. By that time I could drink 2 oz, was able to burp and pass gas. It also helped to have someone pat my back...just like a baby lol.

good luck..it will get better in a few days. I took the pain meds for about 4 days...but really more for walking than anything else.

Yeah, one of the least fun side affects of the surgery. Walk, whine, cry, complain, repeat. That worked for me. Give it a few days and you will feel much much better. The first words out of mouth after surgery besides " I going to be sick", was " I change my mind."
