1300 calories?! Vets, please take a quick read!!
I don't know if I am losing slow or fast and I am 6 months out... but I get roughly 130 in carbs sometimes less... but depends on the day and my calories fluctuate between 1100 and 1300 I was told not to watch carbs but to count calories and protein and make good carb choices lol (so basically no processed carbs) - You do what you have to do I listen to the nut but I do what is right for me. My nut didn't say I would have a hard time keeping the weight off if I ate carbs she said that I needed to live with my eating plan for the rest of my life and getting rid of carbs or nearly getting rid of a food group wasn't realistic and didn't ever hear you would have a hard time keeping the weight off... :) but in the end it's your lifestyle change :)
Warning....personal opinion incoming.
I think a lot of places use a "general" nutritionist that really has no idea how to plan a well thought out diet plan for a bariatric patient.
They base their "plans" off the traditional model and think its perfect. That plan might work for MOST people. They do not work for people who have damaged metabolisms (which most obese people do).
I know everyone is different....but look at the people here who have been successful long term and model your eating after them. You may need to tweak it some...but you can't argue with success.

doggz, this is the biggest issue I have with the NUT affiliated with my doctor's office. I think she's new working with bariatric patients (less than 6 months) and still frequently looks like a deer in headlights when I ask for advice / guidance. Frustrating to be sure. Even worse, she kind of hems and haws at an answer and I feel like she's telling me what I want to hear. I should probably try and find someone with more experience to visit, but I'm in a relatively small metro area, so I might be stuck. We'll see if she's any better when I go back for my 8 week follow-up next week. Best of luck as you find the right combination for you!
