Insurance woes

So, at the beginning of this journey (August 2011), I called my insurance company to make sure the RNY was covered - and I was told it was.  So yesterday I called to make sure the VSG was covered as well and if I needed any additional paperwork, and I was told it was BUT now they're saying my husbands company only covers 50% (and they claim I was told that back in August, which I wasn't).  So anyway, now I'm looking at paying for half of this surgery.  Has anyone else faced this issue?  It makes me cry thinking that I have to pay all that money, but in the same breath I REFUSE to just quit.  I've gone through all of this and jumped through every hoop....theres no way I'm going to quit a month before I have the surgery!  I'm not sure what I'm asking for from anyone...maybe just a little support or a shoulder to vent on?! :)

I wish half of my surgery was being covered. My insurance has bariatric surgery of any kind listed as an abo****e exclusion, with no exceptions, not even for medical necessity.

There are ways of coming up with the rest of the money. There are companies that finance medical bills. I'm actually putting my surgery on a credit card, though, because I found that to be cheaper in my case.

Sorry for your frustration, but this is just one more hurdle. You'll get past this too, and you'll be so glad you did.

*hugs*

My insurance is 80/20 so I will have to pay 20% of the cost and then I think that does not count anesthesiologist I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay 20% of that bill too and then  all I have had to pay prior to surgery has been co pays to see my pcp for 6 months have had to pay for lab work had to pay a co pay for a sleep study I will have to pay my 300 deductible for the c pap machine I have to have now. The whole process is just pricey but at least we have insurance that is a plus I would hate to have to pay the whole price out of pocket. For me it has been a little stressful but don't give up you are almost there.  Good luck!
