I am packing this morning for my surgery Friday. What are the thing that you wished someone would have told you to be prepared with? Thanks so much in advance for you responses. This site has been a true blessing for gaining wisdom.

First I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I took with me, My cellphone, Phone charger, socks, chapstick, laptop but I didn't use it, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, underwear, pijama, my sippy cup. That's everything I can remember.

Goodluck

That sounds like a good list.  I'm planning to take my kindle (not sure that I'll use it but it's pretty much my nighttime security blanket)

Chapstick was very important!!  Since you aren't allowed water for almost 2 days I was super dehydrated.  If they are not giving you an abdominal binder I would suggest getting one.  It made a world of difference.

When you come out of surgery and are back in your room, ask the nurses for some oral swabs.  Even though you won't be able to drink anything, swabbing your mouth and tongue will help reduce some of that horrid dryness.

I only needed pajama bottoms and slippers for when I wanted to walk around the halls for exercise.

Good luck!  We'll be thinking of you!

take your own flavor crystal light/kool aid.  My hosptial only had peach tea and it just didn't agree with me.  Also, chapstick for sure.
