Rescue food

I am 9 months out, and have found that there are certain foods that always appeal to me and can help me to carb-cleanse if that is needed.  Yesterday there was a giant tub of Almond Roca at my office, and I had a really really hard time resisting.  Today I turned to my favorite rescue food: green salad with sliced steak.  My salad had lettuce, grape-tomatoes, asparagus, avocado, red pepper and sliced medium-rare top sirloin--bleu cheese dressing on top.  I do tons of physical activity, so I look for upping fat a little to maintain weight, thus the dressing and avocado.  What I don't want to eat whether it makes me gain weight or not are simple carbs.

Anyway, this food always feels like a delicious treat and crowds out any unhealthy desires.  What are your rescue foods?

Thanks for sharing the "rescue food" idea.   I think I'll find a healthy rescue food that I enjoy to help me overcome the temptations of life as they come my way.   You salad sounds like a great one!

Avocados and anything with hot peppers in it. I found a cheese that has, not only jalapenos in it, but also has habaneros. I eat it alot, and the Tillamook pepper jack and another product, Lucerne Pepper Jack cheese stix. They are my staple every day. One day I ate 7 slices (went nuts) and got a huge cheese glue-ball colon obstruction. That took some doing getting un-impacted. Be careful eating too much cheese. But the hot peppers, to me, are more wonderful than any other food I can eat.
