sleeved and home - a lot of discomfort
My mentor here gave me a tidbit of advice before I had surgery. She said get a shot glass, 2 oz, well I had a 4 oz. one so that's what I used. Anyway, I would measure out 4 oz, of water, protein drink, crystal light and write it on a notepad. When I would fini**** I knew I had drank 4 oz. Then I would neasure it again, and just put it next to me. I would try to drink 4 oz, every hour. I did this for 24 hours a day, if I woke up at night, measure more and drink more. That was the key for me to get in my liquids. I just kept working on it. Before you know it you will be getting in enought fluids. Give yourself a chance, but don't give up. Also, very very helpful were sugar free popscicles. They count as liquid too! Not a protein, but they do help your mouth with dryness and taste good.
Give it a try. Hang in there, the best is just around the corner for you. Take it one hour at a time. It took me about a week to adjust and another week to feel human, and about another week to begin feeling somewhat normal. It's a journey, there are some bumps in the road but with a good base the path will be smooth in the future!!!

My dr sent me home with a tiny patch placed behind my ear to prevent the nausea because I too had a reaction to the morphine. Maybe u can call ur dr and ask for the patch. I think the patch lasted for 3-4 days and it really helped. As for the dry heeves, I do suck on a sugar free cough drop to prevent any type of coughing (too much pain). I also was told to sit up as much as possible and walk as much as possible to get ur longs back to normal to stop those heeves. Hope that helps.
