GOT MY DATE,NOW SCARED
Hi Bruce, as a nurse I'd say you don't need a nurse overnight. I also live alone and had my parents stay with me. Their idea. The company was nice, but I would have been OK on my own. I had no trouble with going up and down stairs. Slept in my bed no problems. I walked around the neighborhood twice a day, once with each of them. Surgery was Monday and they left on Saturday, and everything was OK. If you want to have a friend stay over the first night, it couldn't hurt, but if you need to stay alone having a phone handy in case you need to call 911 would be smart. Surgery is really scary, but to me not having the surgery and diving deeper into bad health was more scary. The important thing when you are home alone is to really pay attention to how you are feeling and pay attention to the d/c instructions about when to call your doc and stay strict with the food plan to help avoid complications. You can do it, you run into fires when mere mortals are running out! My brother is a firefighter in Mass, I know what you guys do.
