I'm in the same boat. I have surgery 8/4/11. I started at 256 and I'm 199 today. The first 50 were gone by thanksgiving but then I got stressed by school and added in carbs and stalled. I just started losing again. it's normal to have it slow down. just focus on what you're eating. my mistake was carbs. maybe you need to add in exercise, or just mix something up if you've plateaued. no harm in checking your thyroid, but slowing down is natural.

I am in the same boat as you are. I hit my 8 mo. mark yesterday and last month I only lost 3 lbs. That is ok though. I am still eating the same calories and keeping my carbs below 40, really below 30 and I figure with this way of eating I will continue to drop lbs. It is much slower but I am losing and not gaining. I feel so much better and know that I look better also. It is all good. Just keep a good attitude and your mind on your goal. It may be slow but as long as you stay positive about what you want to achieve it will be easier. Even when we meet our goals we still have to work on our head issues with food. It will always be there in front of us. We just have to learn to live with it in a different way than we have in the past. I just try to remember that this is not a race. I have a chance to change my life with this new tool.

Best of luck to you on your journey. You are doing great!! (( Hugs)).

Hi Michelle,

Each one of us is different, I am 6 months out and I have lost 90 pounds but I had my stalls. Do you have a nutritionist? I have one specialized in Gastric surgeries and she has told me that sometimes we have to shock out body when we are eatingthe same every day or doing the same exercises. She stated that if you change your routine and add other foods allowed you will start seeing your weight drop and you do it over and over until you get to your ideal weight. She says that the body gets used to the routine and that is why it stalls. I have to have 20 onces of protein per meal at least, no more than 5 grams of sugar a day, forget about everything else, and some exercise (if you can an hour). I hope this helps.

I am also 7 months out, down 93 pounds and like you have lost almost nothing in recent weeks. I saw my nutritionist/bariatric specialist and he gave me some great information. I have to eat 110 grams of protein a day, 50-70 carbs, 800-1000 calories. No more than 5 of those carbs can be in the morning. It has actually helped and I have lost 6 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I know it's frustrating but be proud of where you are and know that these last pounds will come off just maybe a little slower.
