Wow, I'm not on a full regular diet until week 12! I have purees for 3, soft for 5, and then a transitional diet for 4 weeks. I know all doctors like different things though.

I would assume it will be different for each person.  People with diabetes don't heal as quickly, etc.  Hopefully,  your surgeon can give you a more educated answer.

It's not as uncommon as you'd think.

There's a few floating around, and on the FB groups, there's 2 ladies who had leaks detected 7-12 weeks post-VSG.

How it was explained is that the swelling kept the little pinhole leak closed up, as the swelling went down/decreased, food, fluids would leak out, sometimes an abscess was formed, other times it wasn't. There's a few cases from several years ago of leaks taking 3-4 months to be detected, or misdiagnosed.

In my pre op class they told us a story about a man that was 3 days post op and he ate a whole can of Corn.  He went to the ER with severe pain.  They couldn't figure out what was wrong with him for days.  They finally went back in and opened him up and found all that corn just sitting in his sleeve and all throughout his intestines undigested.  Of course, corn doesn't digest anyway.  It sounded like a real horror story.

I'm not certain why you would wonder when your staple line is completely healed but please don't eat anything your not supposed to .. like corn !  LOL

I was told that my staple line should be 100% healed at 3 months and that it would eventually be stronger than the original stomach "tissue".
