I'm heading to Disney World Florida (from Canada) in just 3 weeks!  Can you folk offer me some tips for eating on Vacation?  I will be about 3 months out at the time!

Thanks sooo much! Oh we also have a kitchen in our suite so we will likely do most breakfasts in and most lunches and dinners out!

I would bring some high protein low carb bars, keep fresh fruit handy
check online for restaurant menus and try to see what is avaliable  and call them with any questions about how they prep foods. make sure you drink plenty of water too. try to keep track of your protein intake. u can eat basically the same on vacation just takes a little planning ahead... If you have a plan then its easier to stay on track also if you decide to get something different at least you had the choice and are not stuck with just junk food  as your choices.... hope it helps... have a great time

Order appetizers like shrimp ****tail or a small steak or fish grilled. Make sure you have your protein shakes available.  YOu can always get ice somewhere and a cup. Buy some rotisserie chicken to have for your meals/snacks and take along some of the small tuna cans that have a zip opening ( you can always find a plastic fork) at the park. Keep up with your water and since you will be doing alot of walking you will be OK in that area.

Stay away from fast food and treats of course  - purchase some sugar free popsicles you can have after you get back to your place for the nite. You can have Wendy's chili if you have to go to fast food.

Most of all have fun and enjoy the rides. Maybe have a chat with your spouse about challenges you might face with all the choices and how he can help you stay on track.

How are you doing on your eating program?

I travel with protein powder in individual serving bags so I can just dump them into my container of water.

Also throw some protein bars and jerky in the suitcase.

Hubby and I will be 9 weeks out in a few weeks and are going to the beach, so I am so glad you asked this question!  We are planning on taking a cooler with some lowfat cheese, protein drinks and lunch meat.  We are planning on maybe eating out 1 or 2 times, mainly because it's my birthday, but other than that, we planned on taking our own food.

Check out Disney dining on line and you can look at the menus at the different restaurants in the parks and downtown Disney.  Make reservations for places that you feel will have healthy choices for you, because it seems like they fill up really fast and you could be left in a bad position.  Plan your meals ahead of time to make it easier for you to stay on track.  Eating some meals in your suite will make it easier.  Carry high protein snacks for you and your family in a backpack - hungry kids get so cranky!  You can even buy bottles of water and snack while waiting in lines.  The walking you will be doing will be really good for you too.  Have fun!

When I go away for a weekend (which I do frequently) I bring canned tuna & chicken and protein powder in a bag w the scooper. I also buy snacks like laughing cow cheese. That way I can be in control of what I eat. I also order mostly chicken at resturants (most places have a low fat/calorie menu) I order grilled chicken or an appitizer of wings- use my fitness pal most dishes can be found there you can check the calories before you order and plan your meal. Good luck & Have lots of fun! We are planning a Disney trip for later in the year I can't wait!!
