Ok so you guys were right...
Yep, what Felicity said. Stick to liquids right now so you stay hydrated and let your new stomach heal. Sip, walk, rest, repeat.
I struggled to get much protein in during the first week. Most shakes were too thick for me. So I bought some Isopure from GNC and watered it down.
I started hitting the protein a little more at 2 weeks post op. It took me awhile to reach my protein goal... several weeks probably. I had a lot of internal swelling. Once I was cleared for pureed foods, I couldn't eat much due to the swelling, so I was still doing lots of liquid protein at that point.
In fact, I still do a protein shake almost every day even now.
Anyhow, sip sip sip!

Congrats on your new sleeve! I had mine on the 29th and its very hard for me to get 60-80 grams of protein in. I try to set times so i have 2 hrs to get the first in then i try to get some water in then back to protein i unfortunatley havent made my goal but eveeyday gets better! I do feel like all protein drinks that ive had are so thick so thats my problem! But i know it gets better one day at a time
keep us updated!! Oh and yogurt was on my list to have now but im suppose to mix it with skim milk to loosen it up, not bad just wish there was more protein in yogurts lol.

Glad you are feeling better, sister! My diet right now consists of Powerade Zero, broths, jello, popsicles, crystal light, vitamin water, and I'm going to try a Premier shake tonight to see if it goes down well. Oh, and a little apple juice to use with my antacid granules.
I agree that applesauce and yogurt probably don't qualify as a liquid. I honestly don't see myself trying those until I get to soft foods.
Just keep going... from what everyone says, it's going to get easier every day, and I am really starting to see that for myself already!

Might want to consider watering down your apple juice. It is LOADED with sugar and that can cause blood sugar spikes and drops. THAT is what can make you hungry and with a clear diet, there won't be anything you can do about the hunger. Well, kinda/sorta.

Hi.
I'm 2 weeks out and started on drinkable yoghurt on day 4. Higher carb count than I like, but that's what I was told to start on, so I did.
Protein will help you heal, and so will getting your vitamins and minerals in, oh, and electrolytes too.
Nectar protein shakes aren't as thick as some of the others I've tried. And they taste ok mixed with water instead of milk, or some do, anyway.
I make 2 cups of jello a night and fini**** off the next day, to add variety to all the water. Bariatric pantry had a protein gelatin that was edible, by the way.
I tried some of the protein shots, thinking I might be able to sneak extra protein that way, but I haven't found one that I can drink without gagging.
There is always Unjury unflavored protein that you can add to broth and stuff. So long as it isn't above 130 degrees F.
You can get sample packs at bariatricpantry.com for fairly reasonable prices and a good variety to try. Chike! protein, at ilikechike.com or something like that, will send you a few samples for $3 or so if you go to their site and request it. It was easy and good customer service. (Their strawberry blast or burst tasted JUST like melted strawberry ice cream!)
Hope this helps some, and glad you're feeling better.

Hi! I just was sleeved on Tuesday, March 27th. 2 days before you and I am here to tell you 2 more days makes a WORLD of difference. I, too, had 2 c-sections and only used tylenol for pain control after!! But the large incision is really really really sore and I had gas bubbles in my shoulder/neck. Youch! Everyone kept telling me that it would be so much better after 5 day in terms of pain and ability to intake the shakes and it's true.
I still have trouble getting all of the shakes in. But am almost there with all of the fluids. At day 4 I think I had 1 shake TOTAL the whole day! I couldn't choke it down!
Anyway - it does get better!
