I don't know what to do

My dietitian told me that she wants to make sure I am completely ready for surgery in six months.  I am currently a full-time student and I work 30+ hours a week at a grocery store.  I still live with my parents but I am moving out in July if my finances are lined up.  I NEED to leave my parents house before I have this surgery that is a given because my brother and my parents play a big part in my eating habits.  I won't go into the many reasons why.  I am 8 classes shy of graduating with a degree in biology and when I have the surgery, I will possibly be enrolled in 3 classes at 14 credits total.  What I am having trouble with is, I need to have this surgery this year.  I am paying all of this money toward my $2500 deductible that will restart at the beginning of next year.  I wanted to graduate next May and go full class loads until then, but I'm starting to think maybe, if I really want this surgery, I should tack on another semester and lighten my load this fall when I hope to have the surgery.  I originally didn't want to wait any longer on the degree, but now I'm starting to think, maybe I shouldn't push myself so hard.  I don't know, I'm kind of rambling now.  What do you think?

You will need to plan for 2 weeks for recovery.  That means no working during that time.  If you have a physically demanding job, it could be longer than 2 weeks.  You will need to be out of classes for probably at least one week, and don't over tax yourself with walking up stairs or long distances to class.  Oh yeah, when you move out, you do not want to be walking up and down stairs at the beginning either.  My doctor would only allow walking up 15steps maximum the first week.

I think you will need to find a place in the calendar when you can take the time out of class, so you don't miss much.

I think you are really the only one who can answer your question bcos much of depends on what kind of student you are.  Are you an obsessive "summ *** laude" type?  if you are, then you might want to take a lighter load.  If not, then you should be okay.  Your teachers should be understanding.  You might have a friend record the class lectures for you.

I'm leaning toward taking 9 credits and dropping one class.  One class is online the other class is a repeat from my last college, so I'm not too terribly concerned about my load.  I'll keep in mind the stairs at an apartment complex, since my roommate and I haven't picked out a place yet.

Oh and I have three weeks of vacation saved up at work, so I'm probably okay for that.

One thing is for sure: you don't need to worry about others eating habits. You won't be able to eat like they do no matter what! There's just no room in your stomach. You'll just follow the plan- pretty much as you can. You can use my fittness pal to be sure after two or three months.

So my advice is to finish your degree and move out after six months or so. Or put off the surgery. You are so close to finishing and you do not want to do anything that keeps you from finishing. I speak from experience here. I did not manage to finish my degree when I only had 9 units left. I now know that was due to my having MS but I still regret it, even though I have been very sucessful in my career since.

Hey there! I would definitely cut back just a little bit to lighten your load. You will need a bit of time to concentrate on yourself and moving out and plus you have a job. You are going to have to work on you and I think if you can make any extra time in your life to do that, then do it.

Just my advice

Good luck
