Just wondering...Surgery cost for self-payers

 It includes everything.

 I paid $9,800 (not including round-trip airfare to and from San Diego). I had my sleeve done in Tijuana by Dr. Corvala at Hospital Angeles. This price included four nights in the hospital, three nights in the hotel, and all labs and tests (and one urgent care visit because I thought I had an infection, when I didn't). I did have to pay for my meds upon discharge to the hotel, which came to around $175. 

I paid $20k at Swedish Hospital in Seattle.

It is also nearby for $15k.

For me, it wasn't about cost, it was which place did I have the most confidence in?  Which place has the best reputation?  Which place has the the lowest percentage for complications?  I looked at all that.  I am blessed to be married to a successful man, so the cost was not a factor.  

Also.... all pre work... endoscopy, blood work, blood gas test was paid for by my regular health insurance.  

I also bought BLISS insurance for $2,000 that covers any complication for 18 months after surgery.

Also.....

Surgery cost  will be deducted off our taxes, and we need this!

I used my Alaska Airlines credit card to pay for it.  That gave me 1/3 the miles I need for my next trip to Europe.   Ten minutes after I charged it, I paid it off electronically, so there will be no credit card fees.
 

Good for you!!  We also use cards with point programs for lots of things and pay them off immediately.  And yay for Europe!

My surgeon's self-pay option for VSG is $12,000 (plus an extra $1,500 for BLIS if you want it), and it includes everything.

I've called Dr. Washingtons office a cpl times the past month and they have told me 17k and that the special is over.....  guess I missed out.
