First Pot Luck
So Sunday is Easter and while we are not religious we live on a fantastic block and are having a multicultural pot luck. We have some Jewish families bringing Passover treats, and of course the normal Easter fare. I'm bringing deviled eggs because I'm pretty sure half of one is all I will manage as I'm still on mushies. But I was wondering what are all your plans for sticking with plan during this holiday. I know it isn't the biggest one for food in our country but it still has a crap load of chocolate and other not so "planny" things. So how are you making it through?

I told my sisters to make steak instead of the traditional ham. They've been very supportive and are trying to lose weight now. We're making protein pudding instead of cheesecake and bought the kids their own cupcakes. I hope everything works out for you. I know how difficult it is but you can do this!!
I will probably eat a chocolate egg or two, and make sure when it's dinner time to get in my protein first so I don't have room for too much junk. I'm not hosting at my house this year and am not planning on buying a bunch of junk for my kids from the Easter Bunny. My surgeon encourages moderation over deprovation. He believes that patients do better in the long haul when they're not deprived of anything during the losing phase. You may lose a bit slower, but then you're better prepared when you reach goal. No carb deprived months followed by introducing carbs back in and freaking out. Happens a lot to people.
Good luck, and remember, if you're on mushies, it's not all about taste and texture... if your staple line is healing, that's important business. I had a leak and JUST got a good scope after 8 months..

Thankfully surgary stuff makes me sick to my stomach, so avoiding all of the candy will be easy. I'll probably have a spoon of pudding or something similar after eating my protein. We always do a buffet at the country club, which is so riduclous for me this year! 30 bucks and I'll eat $2 of food, haha! I plan on having a scrambled egg, piece or two of bacon and some fruits and veggies. Funny enough, that's what I would have before surgery as well. Just in greater portions!
Look at this as a great opportunity to learn 2 things: make holidays about friends and family, not food and to develop discipline. I love the feeling of "beating" a challenge. If I can sit around people eating cheescake and not give in to it, I'm a badass for the day. :)
