Surgery Pushed Back A Little

Well, after doing pre-op this morning, they had to slide my surgery back to the 24th. My surgeon only likes to do sleeves with a specific surgical assistant and that only takes place on Tuesdays in the afternoon. Not a huge deal. Just a little more juggling with my husband's schedule and him being able to take care of me.

My doctor showed us a video of him doing a band and then pics of a sleeve. This dude is so thorough.

Also, he really wants me on solids about 16 days after surgery. He believes the sooner you feel like a normal person, the better choices you'll make but he's a stickler for 30g of carbs or less.

I figure I'll lose weight pretty quickly with so little carbs but I eventually want to get to where I am controllably adding carbs back in. How did you guys do it?

Thanks! Happy Hump Day!

solids after 16 days is quick.  I am now starting to incorporate carbs--but VERY FEW, and never bread (only rice, sweet potatoes).  I think I lost fairly quickly because I didnt eat carbs.

Good luck to you.  the wait will be worth it.

Thank you! How long did it take to reach goal?

I honestly can't see myself eating solids that soon either. I'd rather sip sip sip lol. I don't like pain lol

Took me 6 months to reach goal (145.2--ok, goal was 145).  this morning I weighed in at 135--which is 10 pounds below goal.  I would like to try to maintain 140--not complaining, but need to stop losing weight.

Honestly, I waited until I hit goal to put carbs back into my diet - they make me too hungry otherwise.

I agree with you.  Not to mention carbs is like heroin for me...no or very little nutritional value to boot.

Indeed.  We have essential amino acids (protein) and essential lipids (fats), but there is no such thing as essential sugars!

Honestly, if you look around and see the people who have gotten to goal, they almost always really watch their carb intake - I think there's a lot to learn there.

Sure, veggies aren't super carby (excepting tubers like potatos, yams, etc).  What my nut tells me is to get my protein in first, then what room is left gets veggies.
