My poor husband...

A few weeks after my surgery I tried homemade chili. I only sipped at the broth and actually "ate" very little. I remember how much I loved it and it perked me up as I was pretty sluggish from the lack of food and just from having surgery in general.
My advice is to just take it slow and at the first sign of discomfort you should stop!

Good Luck!

I got sleeved by Kligman about a month ago. From what I remember our plan being, we can do soft foods after the first 14 days but we have to wait 6 months for beef. So I think turkey chili should be ok...the plan really says chicken and fish up the 7th week mark but I have tried a little pork sausage already and a bite of ground turkey...I had the same restriction as the chicken and fish and no heart burn/indigestion.

I had my first small cup of wendy's chili at 14 days out from surgery. It took 4 meals to finish the small size cup. At 2 months out it takes me 3 meals to finish that same small chili cup. It went down fine the first time I had it with no problems. Eat slow and make sure you take small bites. After each bite give it a minute or two to make sure your new stomach likes it. Also make sure there are no big chunks or just chew chew chew before swallowing.

It's something I make for the family while I'm on mushies but I put it in the blender before I eat it.

@ Katie M, I'm doing good hun. I still lurk every few days or so but I haven't really been posting since surgery. I definitely have to get on and read a few posts to remind myself that all will be well in the end. I haven't had any complications but I still deal with severe head hunger and I always crave stuff. I have lost about 22 lbs in the first month but I'm just afraid it will stop. I was in a stall all this week but I lost one pound yesterday so I was happy. I haven't tried any bread yet but I have been eating crackers. I can tell it will be a slider for me though so I have to watch it. I haven't really tried a lot of stuff yet. I usually just do chicken and baked beans. Iv'e had strawberries too. Did you know he uses a 42 bougie? I didn't find out till I asked him after surgery. He explained why he does that so I guess we should be ok with restriction...! :) How have you been?

I'm doing good!  18# down after 2 weeks.  I'm sure I'll hit a stall soon though.  I did ask him before what size bougie he uses, but I'm fully confident in his explanation!  He's a great surgeon!  My hospital stay was less than amazing.....I just felt like the nursing staff where we stayed weren't the greatest.  Oh well, only had to stay one night so it could have been worse!

I enjoyed the hospital too, but girl, let me tell you what happened when I was there! It was so sad... :( This lady was in the recovery wing while I was there too...I don't know what surgery she had just had, but I was in my room talking to my mom when all of a sudden we hear a lady say somebody help me and then all you heard was a loud boom as she fell down. I think she was in the hallway by herself just trying to walk around just like all the rest of us. My mom walked to the hallway to see the lady had fallen. She was passed out. Nurses took their time attending to her. They didn't even use their emergency code for more help to come and recessitate her. By the time she got more attention and they tried to revive her, she was gone. My mom is a critical care nurse in Chicago. She was so pissed! She said they took way too long to do the appropriate things to try and save her and use the emergency code. She couldn't believe it. The appearance of the hospital is great...but I'm not sure about some other things :/ I couldn't believe that lady passed away like that while I was there!
