She might have thrown a pulmonary embolism (PE) .. they are common right after surgery and if it goes to your lungs it can kill you just like that.  Shame.

Wow!!  That is insane!  I would have been a freakin' wreck!  I was not satisfied at all at how long it took them to come when you called them.  I was so happy to have been able to drink everything I had to in that amount of time so I could get the heck out of there.  My husband was furious though b/c it took them 4 HOURS to discharge me!!  I was ready to go at 5 and we didn't leave until 9:30pm.  By the time I got home I was in so much pain it was unbearable.  I was very surprised by all of this b/c every other experience I"ve had at that hospital has been stellar.  I would have rather stayed in the recovery area the whole time!  The nurses there were much more attentive!

That is so scary to me...I think all the time that something horrible could happen...I am such a pre-surgery worrier...and post illness or surgery I am a recovery warrior.  I wonder what happened to her...there are many things I am afraid of like waking up with the ventilator still in and silly things like that...my surgeon is in Nashville and everyone says the hospital staff and surgical team is wonderful but you just described my worst nightmare.

@khessmd, he basically tole me that most doc's who use something smaller don't staple right at the bougie anyway b/c they know it would be too thin  and dangerous so even though they use a smaller instrument, the pouch they make is bigger. So opposed to using a smaller bougie and then making a space to staple, he uses a 42 and staples tightly right at the bougie.

Yes he told me the same.  He also said that you can't compare yourself with someone who has a 30f b/c you never know how long someones stomach is.

I couldn't do turkey or ground meat until after 4 weeks, sat horribly in my tummy. Plus it was considered a soft food for my plan. You can always puree it.

I was on clears for 7 days, creams for 2 weeks, mushies for 2 weeks, so yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, then solids at 5-6 weeks.
