vitamine question for vets or anyone who knows about this stuff

Before VSG I hadn't taken a pill a day EVER. Not even aspirin, tylonol etc.
I simply have no dicipline.
shiny objects and all.

So now I HAVE to take Prilosec everyday and that motivates (reminds) me to take the calcium, vitamine D, B12 sublingual and now iron (been bruising alot lately), cuz thier right next to each other.

I don't always take my daily vites because you're not supposed to take the calcium at the same time and frankly, calcuim is way more important to me. So it get priority (i.e. with the prilosec).

Question: The vites I do have (gummies) are 200% Daily values and include a vite D (which is also in the calcium (chewys...cuz I like em)

Is iron ok with calcium? Is too much vite D an issue?

BTW my bloodwork/post follow up stats were fine/normal

thanks in advance

do NOT take calcium and iron together

check your multi if it has iron it then dont take with your calcium
yes...you can take too much D...as it is a fat soluble vitamin it can build up in your system easier than say Bs or Cs...with that said....i dont know what the limit is...and i dont know how much you have in each of your sources

heres a link eith sone decent info. for you to browse

Oh Hell, I'm screwed!

It's like rocket science for the love of God!

I just want to take the vitamines I need to live. Not be the guru of vitamines!

Crap!
I don't want to take anything now. (sigh)
Probably poisened myself already.

Does anyone have a daily regamin of vitamines that will not tax my poor mind?

Morning: Vite D w/ Calcium, B12 sublingual
snack: Multi vitamin (but apparently my brand has 200% of whatever and vite D and that's too much! but no iron) so I take an iron pill then

Will that work?

Hey Donna,

Here's what i do and i too fear pills.  i take everything after breakfast.  multi, iron, D, B etc, with the exception of calcium.  Then i take calcium 2 hours later or whenever and then every 2 hours or so for the rest of the evening.  The recommendation for calcium  was 1500mg per day.  i take 2 600mg which is 1200, because i worry about artery problems later, plus (honestly) 2 horse pills, instead of 3 horse pills is about all i can stand.  Don't know if I'm doing it right, but **** it I'm doing it, there has to be a gold star waiting somewhere.

Why 1500 mg of calcium? The recomended amount is 1000.
My head hurts.
Ima go melt a calcium gummy in some vodka.
bye

Check to make sure your multi has Thiamine in them, most gummies do not!

Calcium and Iron need to be taken many hours apart. If your multi-vit has iron in it, don't take it anywhere near your calcium.

Can take Iron with vitamin C - the C helps your body absorb the Iron.

Calcium might be the most important thing to you, probably for bones, but your muscles and bones need iron also and your body needs the other nutrients in your multi-vit.

Take both. They are equally important.

Put a reminder in your phone. That works well for lots of people.

I had a bit of trouble sorting out how to take my meds too.  When I was in for my followup with the surgeon I asked about Vitamin D (I was already taking 1000 units before surgery, and now have 100% of my Vit D in my bariatric multivitamin too.)  He wasn't concerned about that at all.

What works for me is:
AM:  Prilosec, a couple of other AM meds, chewable multivitamin, Iron &C, and sublingual B12.  I take one calcium chewable with lunch, and another with dinner.  Take my Synthroid at night, which also needs to be spaced out from other meds.

When I work again, I plan to pack my calcium in with my lunch and tote it with me.

Hope that helps.

It was my understanding that I cannot take my calcium with my multi vite.

Why?????

Because most multi vites include iron. Just group everything, with the exception of calcium, separate taking the calcium by 2 or more hours and your head won't explode.  That's what worked for me.
