Rant

Yesterday morning I woke up with several insect bites on my abdomen, looks like a mosquito or something. I have always been prone to multiple bites and react pretty strongly. I called the surgeon's office today to confirm the time of my surgery, which is supposed to be Monday, and I figured I would make sure I could still have it with the bug bites just in case. The nurse said that I would have to be evaluated that day and may not be able to get the surgery! I have been looking forward to this for so long, am so excited, I will be devastated if they say no. Also, no way of knowing until the day of, and my surgeon's schedule is pretty busy so it would likely be at least another few weeks. Ugh, just needed to rant for a minute, anyone know how to get rid of bug bites quicker?

 Hydrocortizone and benadryl. No scratching.

That's rotten luck. Hopefully you're worried for nothing.

I hope so too! I tried some hydrocortizone cream last night, planning on grabbing some benadryl cream during my lunch break here.

Lol, sorry I had to laugh! I have some tea tree scrub at home, do you think that could work, or should I use the oil?

Use the straight melaleuca tea tree oil. That is usually the only thing that works for me on any scratch...helps it heal fast. I agree on the Preperation H too. My daughter uses that for her blisters on her hands from gymnastics. It works really well on inflamation.

Just a thought here...could your "bug bites" be hives and not from a bug? Nerves can do that.

Either way...don't forget to breath! The body heals better when you stay calm and are not stressed out. Hang in there! Pulling for things to heal soon!

It's interesting you mentioned hives, I showed the bites to my coworker and that's what she thought it was. I don't know what would be causing them though, they're in a centralilized location and I haven't been feeling nervous. I just hope they do away before Monday!

Your surgery is Apr 30, right? How can you NOT be nervous? I'm pretty sure I will be wreck 3 days before surgery. Maybe you don't feel nervous in your head, but it could be expressing in your body anyway....nerves like to creep up on you like that even when you think you have it all under control. As long as you don't scratch and make a sore, i can't imagine a couple of hives would stop the surgery. Good Luc****ep us posted.

You're probably right, just because I don't feel nervous doesn't mean I'm not actually nervous. I have been really crazy busy this week (I'm taking up to 6 weeks off work so I wanted to get everything for the next 6 weeks done) so maybe that is keeping my mind off it. I will definitely keep you posted! I plan on announcing my newly sleeved self as soon as I'm out of post-op recovery
