Hehe. My surgeon said to give it a shot. Eat a little and chew the heck out of it is what he said. Any other advice? *nervous*

At your short time out, I would suggest really a soft and mild fish-----a little tuna, tilapia, shrimp or the like....if your surgeon/nut didn't give you a list.  Just go super slow and a very little at a time.

You can always back off a little if it feels too soon.  But fish worked well for me (except I was at 3 weeks before I started mushy foods).

Good luck

I was thinking if I did do tuna, I'd add a little mayo and still give it a once over in the blender. I will definitely be cautious. I hate being in discomfort lol. I'm delicate.

1 week out....ouch.  I honestly did liquids for the first 3 weeks....but give it a shot.  I would have been scared to try it that soon.

Go very light flaky fish like talapia.  Don't try tuna or salmon or anything like that yet and make sure there are absolutely no bones!

Really? Liquids for 3 weeks? My surgeon wants me eating normal food in 17-21 days. Such different approaches. I'm going to make it more mushy than anything. Will be nice to have to chew something though :)

I wasn't cleared for "normal" food until six weeks post op.

Liquids 2 weeks (I stretched it to 3 weeks because I was not comfortable yet)

Mushy 2 weeks (cottage cheese, greek yogurt, etc)

Soft Food 2 weeks (tuna salad, etc)

Then I could progress to having other things by trying them out and seeing how I tolerated them.

i think tuna would be too heavy on your stomach. try tilapia :)

I usually always defer to the surgeon's plan, but in this case I just want to warn.... OUCH! Too soon!
I was on full liquids for two weeks, then purees for two, then soft foods for two, then finally solids and full (well VSG full) diet at about 6 weeks out.

I say, go easy, easy, easy.... I was never sick or nauseous during recovery and I attribute part of that to being very gentle with my new sleeve. If you must, choose a very soft fish like Tilapia. I think even cooked tuna is far too dense for you right now.

Again, just my opinion.
