Ok so I've been monitoring the vsg board for awhile just to see what it was about. I was suppose to have my sleeve yesterday but I had to postpone it due to high blood pressure. I started my weight loss process Jan 2012 at 299 lbs.. I've never weighed that much so it has been a roller coaster. I am now at 284 lbs.I have lost 16 lbs on my own but I was dx w/ sleep apnea and high blood pressure since Jan 2012... So it has been emotional roller coaster.... But I'm remaining positive.... So my new date is 6/27 ... And I'm on 3 high blood pressure meds and at the cardiologist every week for the last 7 wks and no change w/ my blood pressure.... So im still waiting for the all clear from the cardiologist for the surgery ..So I'm glad I'm going through this process... Bcuz I did not know how bad my health was... But I'm wondering if anyone else found out they had some health issues as the were preparing for wls

My husband and I both found out we had sleep apnea thanks to his clearances for his vsg. It's actually pretty common for us to learn more about our health during this process, and it's a good thing, too... helps us to be better prepared to do what we need to reduce risks.

I feel so much rested on the machine!!!! I think I'm going to continue to use the machine even when I don't have sleep apnea. I just wish my blood pressure gets stable

The CPAP machine is something that you won't want to use if you don't have sleep apnea. You won't be able to sleep right WITH the machine if you don't have sleep apnea. It will blow out of your mouth and wake you up if you have too much air pressure. Most people see a huge improvement and 85% have no need for a machine within that first year after a VSG.

I hope your blood pressure cooperates for you soon. But it's not a bad thing that you have more time before your surgery. Use that time to educate yourself on VSG so you know what to expect. You will find a lot of great information here.

The machine might not have the same effect as your needs for it change. Make sure you follow up with an updated sleep study when the time comes just to be sure.

I bet your blood pressure will improve drastically after surgery. Mine was borderline high preop, and last week it was 117/71.

Probably so.  Can you try to get in a little extra water each day?  That may help to drop the blood pressure a little bit.
