My first episode
Well, I over ate for the first time and within 20 minutes, puked it all back up. Lesson learned. Amazing how that 1 or 2 extra bites is too much. I am trying to get my 80 grams of protein from food and not shakes and guess I was too ambitious.
Funny part is my first thought after puking is "great, now that protein doesn't count. "
Then I was like dangit, I hope I didn't break my sleeve. Grrr...
Getting some water in then may try a little Greek yogurt to get some more protein. Not sure if I can stomach a shake right now.
It's hard to slow ourselves down when we're doing well huh?

It's weird I thought my NUT was crazy when she was talking in terms of tablespoons for the amount of food I'd be eating. Like I went from that appt and ate a lot at a local cafe and was scared to get surgery.
You really aren't hungry. I had 1.25 oz of tilapia and 1 tablespoon of Lima beans that had been boiled into submission. That was "over eating".
I think you will do great. You not being hungry gives you time to strategically put food in your mouth. Let me know if I can be of any help.

I am almost 6 months out & Saturday I waited too long to eat, and when I finally made time I ate too fast. It ALL came back up. Man I was so mad at my self for doing it, and mad that I wasted a decent meal, and had to wait an hour ( cause i was queasy that long) to have a shake to make up for the protein loss
I am having 1 shake in the morning. Isopure so that's 25g of carbs. Then just having 2tbs of tuna-egg salad. A cheese square. Those little cracker ones. A little tilapia for dinner. Yea I'm not getting up to 80 yet but I was really trying. I'm rushing things. Oh an last night I mixed the Isopure clear drink stuff half and half with water for 20g.
Just be careful. I think most of us are still on full liquids until we are at least two full weeks out... I was actually on liquids only for three weeks post op, so what you're describing sounds like a lot to me for the stage you're at.
I think it's great that you're trying to get off of the shakes, as I use them a seldom as possible also, but realistically I know it'll probably be several more weeks before I can quit buying them altogether, possibly longer. Some days I get my protein in without them no problem, some days it's a struggle. But I'm also on solids and am farther out than you are.
Isn't it funny how much quicker our stomach gives us feedback now? I never would have felt full that quickly before surgery.

Thank you I will. My surgeon is so different. He told me last Thursday to give tilapia a shot. In his plan, he wants me on full food by 16-21 days out. I may call him and see if I can talk to some of his other sleeve patients and see how they did on this approach or of they had to tailor it any.
I do see a lot of people are on liquids for 2-3 weeks.
