Listen to your sleeve, it knows when you are full sooner than your brain does.  Even the slightest bit of sensation means stop. I myself am not fond of puking and to date have not since I was sleeved.  Just relax when you eat and remember don't drink for at least 45 min after your last bite.

I am not one to recommend that you veer from your surgeon's plan. I do not advocate that one bit. What I do advocate though is being gentle with your sleeve. Protein shakes/drinks are not bad. They are a wonderful tool to get the nutrition you need while being kind to your new sleeve. Your stomach has just been mauled surgically and needs to work on healing itself. Be gentle with your tummy.

My surgeon's plan also calls for a reduction in the number of protein shakes as we get further out. I was really hesitant about that early out. He reassured me that reducing the number of shakes was a GOAL that would take time - I had months to lower my protein shake intake. Well, I'm 5 months out and I still usually have 2 shakes a day (1 morning and 1 post workout). I am not planning on giving those up anytime soon because otherwise I have to eat too many times during the day to get in enough protein. As it is I eat 4 times a day to get the protein I need that I don't get from my two shakes.

I do not plan to give up my morning shake any time soon. I think I may be a "lifer".

econtiff - check with your own surgeon - that is the best answer.

What above poster says " Listen to your sleeve, it knows when you are full sooner than your brain does.  Even the slightest bit of sensation means stop " is very very true.

I started on pureed at 10 days out per my surgeon and dietician instructions.  Nothing has come back up yet.  I am very careful about eating slowing and chewing a lot.  And wait to start eating until ten minutes after last liquid - then after eating waiting 40 minutes to drink liquid.

Not hungry at all. Very low on calorie intake and "almost" making protein goals including protein drinks.  I am doing what is best for me for now and with my surgeons guidelines.  I transition to soft foods to normal diet on 5/17/12.

good luck !
