Diet Pepsi

So last night was my son's wedding and I was standing at the bar with a friend and they asked me what I would like and the words Diet Pepsi just came rolling off my tongue. I didn't even think that I was not supposed to have carbonated beverages.  I drank the first drink then I remembered. It was like heaven. I'm 6 weeks out and haven't had any since my surgery.  I couldn't remember why I was not supposed to be drinking it.  I drank about 4 oz.  Nothing happened.?.?  So, can someone tell me why we're not supposed to drink carbonated beverages?

Thanks,

the carbonation can cause your sleeve to swell and stretch.  I don't think one is going to do any damage, but if you continued, it would cause your sleeve to stretch out, making it easier to gain weight back in the long run.

Some the carbonation does not set well in their sleeve, some people think it will stretch their sleeve, some because caffeine causes them to be hungry, some can't control their intake, some because caffeine can dehydrate you.Me I just don't drink it,My doctor does not care he did say stay away from full sugar drinks because they have a lot of calories but a diet drink ever once in a while is Ok.

my surgeon told me in no way does it cause the sleeve to swell and stretch...thats more of a myth...he does say that it makes a person want to snack more and eat more.

My surgeon also told me it won't stretch it but it is a reason some people won't drink it. I just don't like it,but will have a sip of sprite zero in a pinch.

Cathy, you and I have the same surgeon.  Glad to hear that.  I wouldn't think it would make your sleeve stretch.  Maybe once in a while it wouldn't hurt. I see him soon and I'll ask.
Thanks for answering.

Carbonated drinks just do not sit well with me.  They will cause me to burp for hours.
