I haven't had the surgery yet and take a number of psychiatric medications.  I'd probably be fine for a short while off all but one (my one for Tourette's) and I was just curious how long I'd have to suffer with my ticcing because I'd be off my Tourette's meds.

I was able to start swallowing pills at a week out. If you take capsules, you will probably be instructed to crack them open providing they're not extended release. You can also crush meds (most pills) in order to take them.

Talk to your surgeon about your meds before the surgery.
Some meds can be prescribed in sublingual form if necessary.

I was given medication in the  pill form when I was still in the hospital after my sleeve.
I was on 3 meds for hypertension.  Took the pills with no problem. Also couldn't tolerate the liquid pain meds or nausea meds, so after I got home, I took Tylenol for the  pain.
Of course, you should ask your doctor.

Every doc is different in this, you should def talk to your doc. Mine says 3 months, but the general consensus is that's a bit long.

I took oral pain medications the day after my surgery. The pills weren't huge but my doctor said there should be no problem with them. Talk to your doctor and if they are big pills ask if they can be cut in half to take. Not all pills should be cut so make sure to ask.

Talk to your surgeon.  I am on 3 medications for my depression/anxiety.  I was able to start taking 2/3 once I went home.  Now I waited till like 3 days out because before that it was even hard for me to swallow water.

I would def bring this up to your surgeon because this is important.

I was able to take my Wellbutrin in the hospital the next day, they just broke in up into small pieces and it was fine. :)

Many pills or casules can be broken or crushed or opened and poured out.

I was able to take my thyroid medicine almost immediately. All my other essentials were useable through crushing, etc.

If you want, you can contact the manufacturer of your meds to find out which ones you can crush. If it's time-released, you can't, but there might be a version available that isn't time-released. If that's the case, then you'd just have to take more than one pill throughout the day.
