TWO WEEKS BEFORE MY SURGERY AND NOW THIS?!?!?
I had all my blood test yesterday and my primary doctor just call me and told me that my iron is really low.
She told me that I have to get two IV's of iron with three days in between. She gave me the number for the nurse that does this and I was told that she is out for the next three weeks!!!!! My surgery is on the 4th.
I called my doctor back to see what she suggest and I left her a mgs to call me back. I also called my surgery coordinator and I left her a mgs as well. I am completely freaking out!
Any ideas how to get your iron up in two weeks?

I think this is just a hurdle. Did your doctor say you could still have the surgery? If you can get your iron up you'll be fine. I had PVCs and was really freaked! I still had my surgery....just one more hoop. It's all going to be just fine. Some things you can do is eat iorn rich food and vitamin c rich foods at the same time. That will help bring up the iorn.
I know I am drowning in a glass of water but I am a Virgo. I like everything line up in a row and everything perfect.
I got a called from my primary doctor and she told me that she was going to see what she can do. She called me back in 30 minutes and told me that everything is taken care off. I must go this Friday at 1pm to get my first IV and then next wendsday for the second one. On thursday I am getting another blood test done so see my iron levels. She told me not to worry that these two IV's will take care of this and my surgery is going to go on without a hitch next monday.
As soon as I hang up with my primary doctor (BTW if you live in new york city and you need the best medical team in the city, New York Downtown Hospital, Women's Wellness Center is the best, TRUST ME) Roberta from Dr. Silberstein called me. Dr. Silberstein called their Himo department and they were going to work with me to get those IV's after work so don't lose any work days. I told her that everything was taken care of by my primary doctor.
I said it before and I said it again my medical team is the freaking best!!

Sigh, its ALWAYS SOMETHING!!! Call ur surgeons office and get a copy of the test result stating ur iron level is severly low. Go to your PCP and see if they can help you. Let them know how imperative this is for you to get a shot or the IV.. Good luck, please let us know how things went... Good Luck!
